I don't understand this. Can't he find something to watch on his own? And if he can't, can't he find something else to do? Why is a parent finding entertainment for their teenager?

I am not OP but I am always looking for good TV to watch with my kids. Kids sometimes need downtime and I want to find something we both will like.

Many shows really get us talking about race, religion, what would you do, etc.

Yes, but we don't need help finding something to watch. I just can't imagine that. And I'm not even particularly smart or savvy.
