| Am moving into our new house and just feel sort of blah. I'm not that old, late 20's. When I was a kid I thought living in a million dollar house meant it was a mansion. Well I have a million dollar house now, 1.3 million, and it was built in the 1960s and is generally pretty dumpy. Don't get me wrong, it's a great commute and excellent school district but I just thought a million dollar house would be...better? Any one feel this way too? |
| Get over yourself. |
| Late 20's and a 1.3m house. Daddy and mommy give you that fat down payment. |
| I used to think that my humblebrags would be humbler. Am I off base? |
+1, OP is clueless. There was a shooting today and my $1.3M house is worth it to me. Let me guess OP, you live in Arlington or Mclean? |
|
Most million $$$ houses are not a dump.
Why can't you find a job somewhere that you can buy a decent home and not have a long commute. Will only 1 place hire you? |
Yes. I feel that way. I can also buy for that price, but haven't yet since I also had dreams that 1.3-1.5 would buy a mansion and can't come to terms with throwing the money on a 60's or 70's hand me down. I also do not want to move away from the excellent school district and therefore continuing to live in my townhome until I can afford my kind of "mansion"
|
| You make the choices you make. Many million dollar houses ARE mansions. You chose one that wasn't. Own your choices. |
Those who want mansions can acquire but don't have the means to maintain the home. |
| $1 million hasn't bought a mansion in this area for a long time. |

AKA Million Dollar Shitshack.
Only in your world. A million dollars most anywhere else in the country buys a mansion but you all neeeeeeed culture and corruption so you bow down or bend over to achieve the nightmare I mean dream. |
This. $1 million will also but you a home two block over from a housing project; go figure. |
| Tell me about it! We have a condo in San Francisco. Worth more than a million, in a district where people shit in our stairwell. |
I literally laughed out loud when I read this. |
There's really no amount of money that's too much to spend not to have to live near people like you. |
