APS School Board Caucus - Voting Underway

CRAZY and STUPID! The result could have been calculated in a few seconds but instead and the printed out 6K votes on paper so they could count them! I thought Democrats were supposed to be worried about the environment.

This is who runs Arlington. This explains so much. And people are praising Mary who is more of the same????

No wonder APS couldn’t handle a switch to virtual.

Once this mess hit the fan, Mary had to make a statement saying she was not affiliated with any parent-led group.

Messy.

Wow - how did I miss all this???

Do you want us to fill you in on all of the sh1tty stuff that APE did too? Or are you less "concerned" about them?

I’m in the APE group. There are some people that are not for me (example - the ones complaining about masks) but yes if “they” did something crazy do share?

Protest to open schools with racist signs
Disparage teachers
Yell and curse at teachers on TEAMS during class
Bully people on AEM
Yell at school board members
Post entitled crap on AEM (angry dad bros)
Etc.

Nobody said that APE didn't have some very bad players. But don't pretend that SR was some beacon of hope either. They showed the a$$es too.

Never mind that sorry excuse of a Twitter account. I'm just tired of them talking down to everyone, like they own the COVID science. I can read a journal too, and honestly, schools could have opened a lot sooner just based on the science itself. I'm not one of those who is demanding five days of school now. I just want this year to be over.

Please take SR and APE with it, and make them become irrelevant in the fall.

Are you the vengeful neighbor? You have issues.

Ask your kid. Maybe they can tell you the new lingo of the day.

The fact that you pop up every time SR is mentioned shows that you have issues too. See a psychologist. Seriously.

I have been amazed watching the Democrats of Arlington, who love to claim the moral high ground so viciously turn on each other and eat their own in this race. From the party that called the election laws in Georgia Jim Crow and yet blew a gasket when one candidate worked hard to turn out the vote and the other candidate (and now essentially SB member) who accused her opponent of fraud before the caucus even began. What an embarrassment. You all should be ashamed - except I don't think that is an emotion many in Arlington ever experience.

Signed,

You people are insane. Clearly there is nothing else to do in Arlington other than argue with each other. 41 pages on a school board caucus that won't change a thing with the school system as much as you want to believe it will. But go on being Arlington and insulting your neighbors in the process. It's amusement for most people at this point.

I think the whole thing was pretty crazy, and the reason it was crazy was because of the pandemic. It should have been about the more long-term issues facing APS because as we can see right now, APS is planning to open 5 days in the fall, and in the fall all students k-12 will be vaccine-eligible. So while it's important for the candidate to come out in support or whatever of that plan, by the time the candidate wins and takes office they will not be dealing with this particular issue of open schools or not. Which anyhow, is not something the school board votes on or determines as was demonstrated this year. That specific decision is up to the superintendent at their discretion.

Anyhow, I am actually surprised that Mary one, even though I voted for her. I wasn't anti-Miranda specificially but I was anti- Miranda supporters, some of whom made complete assess of themselves on social media, at school board meetings, etc. I just couldn't align myself with those crazies. Have some decency.

So in the end, I voted for Mary, she won, and I'm not unhappy about that.

Oh here's this person talking down to everyone again. Whoever said that, thank you. I support what SR did honestly, but they are insufferable. Definitely projecting their issues on everyone else. Talk about vengeful. I'll probably get called out as "needing help" too.

Back on topic, Mary won. SB will continue to be the same. I don't think Miranda would have shook anything up though.

How was SR projecting its issues on everyone else?

Can we set up a cage fight for the extremists on both sides? Now that would make this movie more entertaining! Fight!

I suppose. I just want the school Board people to feel SOME level of accountability. Instead we’re sending the message that they’re pretty much untouchable and can do no wrong. If after the last year things didn’t change there’s no hope.

I voted for Mary. I don't know if she will do this or not. She has the ability to do this. Turner didn't know enough to be effective.

There are people I know who would have held them accountable but they didn't want to run. Who would? If you want better people to run, consider how you treat them.
