Yes! Sounds fantastic to me. We would all do it if we could. Look at Europeans. |
+1 I love my 2 hrs of down time every night. |
Is this fact or just something you believe? I would love to see some cites to this or hear from someone who has actually worked for a rescue group and seen this happen. And even if rescues are taking in some puppies who have been abandoned by backyard breeders, I doubt they are looking to subsidize these breeders so they can stay in business -- most rescues are non-profits and with the number of dogs being euthanized in this country every year, I cannot imagine rescue groups face any shortage of dogs. You make it sound like there are kickbacks or something, which is just strange. At the end of the day, these unwanted puppies need homes and it should be on law enforcement to shut these puppy mills down. Your statements still seem like a conspiracy to me. If you want to buy a dog, that is your right. Stop trying to make yourself feel better by creating stories about how adopting a rescue is just lining the pockets of puppy mills. |
Also, what are we supposed to do with all the "leftover" dogs from puppy mills? Just let them rot in the wild and die? I'm happy if a rescue group is trying to find homes for these unwanted dogs. Maybe it's not fixing the long term problem of puppy mills, but the rescues certainly aren't aiding these puppy mills so they can get a "convenient" supply of dogs. |
Who do you think fed my kids breakfast, packed their lunches (last night) and took them to school (DH?) I then worked out from 8-830. Bills are paid online and I check them once a week. I'll then work a full day, pick up my kids at 5, make a leisurely dinner and hang out with my kids and husband. So you did dishes (my DH handles that) and did some laundry, beyond what I did today (and I refuse to believe you do that volunteer work anywhere near daily unless it's the most intensive volunteer job on earth). I know you'd like to think WOHMs can't do all you do (which really isn't much, BTW) and contribute productively to society too, but we just can. Especially with a DH who does his fair share around the house, since I'm his partner, not his housekeeper. |
What attitude is that? What makes an infertile woman "rotten and selfish"? |
No, it just gets them out of the paid workforce longer.... |
I could, but I'd be bored. I was bored by about 4 pm yesterday because it was my third day off work in a row. Unless you watch hours and hours of TV or are normally sleep deprived, I can't imagine giving up a stimulating, well paying career for evening downtime. |
+1 I think you've got some of your information wrong on this one. |
You sound boring. I'm a np, with no horse in this race of sahm/wohm. How can anyone be bored with downtime in such a busy world. So many books, so much music to discover, so many things to take an interest in. I'm a painter and work 55-60 hrs a week . I'd way rather be making art and taking hikes and relaxing with loved ones. I'm glad you love your career, but it seems sad that you're ability to be so easily bored is making you miss out on life. |
I never said you couldn't do it all. Good for you! Ok, my comment about your stressful evening was snarky, but my point was that my day was not exactly lazy. i also never said that I volunteer every day. I go twice a week. Tomorrow I am painting a room, meeting a friend for lunch, and then working on my booth at an antique mall. |
I agree with you. [no sarcasm] |
You think we shouldn't have spaces for wheelchairs, testing for developmental disabilities and fuck autistic children, make them stay locked up at home? Seriously? |
My unpopular opinion: people who give animal life the exact same level of importance have mental problems. There is a thing we can do with excess animals: put them down. Sometimes that's the best thing. |
Can you read, honey? |
