According to the news yesterday, INOVA hospital said they are ready to take any symptomatic patients. Now, they have one.

WTF????? Weren't these people NOT supposed to be traveling????

Try to keep up. This is old news, they were self monitoring, not restricted from travel. The person on the cruise has shown NO symptoms.

Woman is at Inova VA Hospital Center now. The parking at Pentagon has been closed off (see above).

Looks like the 'hysterical' ones with the medical backgrounds have been right about the situation/threat all along.

Let me guess. You're the same poster who was sure last night that the jail inmate from Loudoun had Ebola too, right?

Show me an instance where someone gets infected via casual contact and I will concede that they hysterical posters are correct. Until then, no.

I never said people get it via casual contact, though the doctors on CNN have said that it's possible to spread within 3 foot radius, which in a populated environment can be pretty darned casual. You (or someone else) called me hysterical because I said we should have travel restrictions. It's basically just that anyone who doesn't think this is turning out well gets called "hysterical". It's silly.

WTH bring her to a new hospital with no Ebola? Shouldn't they have just brought her to NIH that has the proper facilities and currently treating Pham? It's in the area.

Doubtful that she actually has Ebola. Doesn't make sense to take people there who haven't been officially diagnosed.

Yes, you idioit, like Duncan???? We sent him home because he hadn't been 'officially diagnosed'. Look how well that has turned out. Any vomiting person from a West African Ebola country is ASSUMED to have Ebola until otherwise proven. This is how you CONTAIN/STOP an epidemic. You don't wait for the worst case scenario.

PP, you have a wonderful future as the next head of the CDC.

No. I'm not.

If we had travel restrictions then maybe those two poor nurses would not have ebola. All the people who were exposed to them would not be facing monitoring, quarantine, what have you. We should have restricted entrance into the US months ago.

I was all-for travel restrictions until I actually looked into it. Commercial airliners are the only real way to get equipment, supplies and medical personnel into the affected countries to stop this thing. Until it's stopped at the source, we are going to keep having incidents here.

And the CDC ommitted they were wrong about that. Vinson never should have been allowed to travel publicly they stated AFTER the fact. You think---everyone they are monitoring they would have told this to by now.

The woman that was on the pentagon bus does not have ebola.

I seem to have missed the part where someone advocated sending her home. Inova Fairfax has announced that they are ready, willing and able to accept possible Ebola cases. There is no reason to send people to NIH pre-diagnosis. She probably has malaria or the stomach flu.

From the NIH website:

"Unlike most hospitals, the Clinical Center does not routinely provide standard diagnostic and treatment services. Admission is selective: patients are chosen by Institute physicians solely because they have an illness being studied by those Institutes."

They do not provide diagnostic services.

I'm curious as to how they are making these determinations. That's what they said about Duncan
