| It is dancing class. Somehow, the organizers make it very fun for the kids. |
I also applaud the fact that they let parents watch. |
| Great program |
Yes. The Thanksgiving Ball at the mayflower. Happens every other year. |
| How about donating the money to charity instead of spending it on this useless, antiquated ceremony to separate the haves from the have nots? |
How dare you send the time it too you to write your post instead of providing food to the undernourished poor in DC. I will now proceed to make all kinds of judgments about you and your motives, will assume the worst, and will become increasingly smug as the days roll by. |
actually, many deb balls do have a charitable component. The international Ball is a 501c3 and supports the military club in NYC. DC's thanksgiving Ball supports children's national medical center. |
| Bumping this thread because DS got an invite to CC for next year. We are at a VA private and I'm wondering if he'll enjoy it next year if he doesn't know anyone? Maybe the cloak of anonymity will be enough to get him there? He did a local cotillion in McLean in 3rd grade and complained every week. |
| Many kids like CC and boys are always needed. You should give it a try. It's a nice way to meet new people and I've head some like it better than mrs simpsons. |
I'd be surprised if other boys at your VA private did not also get a similar invitation. If not, you are allowed to "nominate" others to receive invitations. Always more fun to be with friends, and my observation is that most everyone seems to know at least a few others. Regardless, it's a fun and worthwhile event. I'm sure that your son will be happy (at least inside - expect him to grumble on the outside). |
CC is better than Mrs. Simpsons but he won't want to go or enjoy it if he doesn't go with at least a couple of friends. BTDT Mom of 3 boys. |
| My DS got a CC invite, too. He is in public school. |
| Are there any true Deb balls in DC? |
Yes. The Thanksgiving Ball held every other year. It benefits Children's National Medical Center |

One is worried about her son being teased by 3rd graders because he joined an etiquette class.
Another one wants more info about an etiquette class because someone said it's more exclusive. A third one is worried because her 3rd grade didn't get an invitation and maybe she was excluded on purpose. I only read 1 or 2 pages (out of 41!) but it is enough to say: You all are getting CRAZY!!! You all need a good purpose in your lives. You need a more demanding job, a better marriage, some friends, vacation... Anything else! Stop overthinking. Stop living your children's lives. GET A LIFE!
