Am I the only person still not doing public places or travel

Yes we’ve all moved on

Yeah, you're pretty much the last holdout.

We're traveling, eating out (indoors), shopping, visiting friends and family, going to church etc.

You do you, though.

It is. I'm in south florida. Everyone I know is vaccinated- family, neighborhood friends, school parents etc. No one has worn masks outdoors in a long time. I stopped wearing masks in stores 2 weeks ago.
I believe in the science.

I’m in Mass. Been to the Cape, Nantucket and Maine over last 6 weeks. Back to normal up here.

Can’t wait for the Fourth parade and fireworks!

I was up in Michigan for a funeral and it's back to normal there. It was eye opening and a relief.

+1. South Carolina is the same way. Friends there are shocked that we still wear masks for anything except drs appointments, or in other health care settings, as though those are somehow more "dangerous."

They are far from the last holdout in this area, but this area has a relatively large number of holdouts compared to the rest of the country.

We are doing most of what you are doing though, except for church because our church isn’t really normal yet either, limited in person services and none of the usual kid stuff. My kids would typically be going to Sunday school so until that’s back we are forgoing church. It’s summer anyway and I’d rather be at the pool on Sunday mornings.

I'm not one to get caught up in talking about the variant, but kinda concerned that if we don't enjoy the summer this Delta variant may give us a not so fun fall and winter. I can't see the USA/others locking back down, but ya never know.

TOTALLY on board with this. I have kids that are pre-vaccination age. But I remember last fall when everything locked down again lamenting that we hadn't done more patio/zoo time (also, laughing now about how last summer we were all freaked out about patio eating).

I don't see US going back down into lockdown, but I can see businesses shutting down or festivals getting cancelled. So, we'll live it up while the positivity rate is 0.6 and the weather is nice.

My family of 5 is fully vaccinated (youngest is 13). We just went on a driving beach trip with my extended family - siblings and grandparents.

I get together with friends of mine indoors as long as everyone is fully vaccinated.

I am taking a driving college tour trip with my son in July.

I still, however, don't dine indoors at restaurants, and I wear a mask when I go in stores. It may be overkill, but it really doesn't bother me. I'm not a big restaurant fan to begin with and wearing a mask in an air-conditioned building isn't a big deal.

I have 2 unvaccinated kids under 12.

Flew in March. Will fly again this weekend and again in August. We've also been dining out indoors since January.

Not everyone with unvaccinated kids is terrified.

Same here. Our oldest is 12, but we haven't decided whether to vaccinate him. Youngest is only 10.

We've flown down to visit grandparents in Florida twice, and once to go skiing out west. The data is pretty overwhelming that kids are at negligible risk from covid.

There's no real reason to worry anymore.

OP. I have zero anxiety issues and we’ve met a couple of vaccinated families. We have a 6 yr old and a one year old. I can’t see us taking a flight or giving to Disney or a museum. We did do a beach house early in June. Now it’s so hot unless you are going way up north. I am just surprised that those with under 12 go to universal or museums or dine indoors. No judgment either way. This was just sharing.

No flying til my kiddo can get vaxxed. We do outdoor things like the zoo. No indoor dining.

There has been this thing called "Covid" which some people aren't vaccinated against, which can be deadly (including to kids).

If you have immunocompromised children, that's one thing. Or a newborn. But otherwise, if your family is fully vaccinated except for (mostly) healthy children under 12, there is really no reason to continue a lockdown.

I can understand avoiding huge crowds, like at theme parks, or international travel, or places that were already germ factories, like Chuck E. Cheese. And if the mask doesn't bother you and you want to stick with that, sure. I can even understand some hesitancy with air travel.

But if you live in the DMV, being unwilling to go on a driving vacation a state or two away, or have your (vaccinated) parents in your house, or go out to dinner, or let your kids play indoors with their friends, or go to a museum, definitely makes you an outlier, and that is not science based. Community spread in this area is nearly non-existent, and the risks to both unvaccinated, generally healthy little kids and vaccinated adults is very, very low.

If you're easing in and just a little nervous, I can understand that, it's been a stressful year for a lot of people, there's some trauma and fear, you don't have to go from zero to sixty all in one day. But if you're still totally on lockdown, and I say this as nicely as possible, it might be time to talk to a professional, as your reaction is not proportional to the risk. At this point, you're at the risk-evaluative level of being unwilling to drive or leave your house after dark or have a conversation with a stranger in the Before Times - ie, you're letting your fears run your decision making in an unhealthy way, and if I was a close friend or relative, I'd be really worried about your mental health.

You sound like a very patronising person. No where did I detect any anxiety or fear-mongering in OP's 1 line post yet here you are tutoring her on her next steps. Maybe you need to justify your actions to yourself.

Fully vaxxed, but still doing curbside pickup or indoor dining until the foreseeable future. Not going into any movie theater any time soon. I just don't see the need to sit in a restaurant full of other people to eat dinner. Paying for the food and heating it up again at home isn't a deal breaker for me. Still supporting local businesses/restaurants and still feeling safe, win win for me.

I do grocery shopping, always have, with a mask of course, but I still wipe everything down before putting it in the fridge. If it's juice that can be stored in our basement for a week or so, I let it quarantine there.

Travel? We got invited to a couple of destination weddings, and I'm not going to lie, I am itching to go to one of them. I've pretty much done all the research for flights and their cancellation policies in case we get cold fee. I'm cool with not traveling internationally until next year, but a few days in Barcelona or Riviera Maya would be nice.

I’m like you - basically still on lockdown here. Have a 3 year old and I’m pregnant - deliveries only not yet traveling to see family anywhere no vacations not even eating outdoors. We’ve done some playgrounds with maybe 2 or 3 kids but we keep our distance and leave if too busy. I would love to go to Paris lol

OP said they are not doing public places, which basically means not leaving the house. So yes, seems very extreme.
