| I have an old school Disney sweatshirt that I wear and get asked about and complimented on. Honestly, I really DGAF if you judge me for wearing it. I wouldn't want to be friends with someone like that anyways so who cares what you think of me. |
So at 48, I’m def old enough to be someone’s grandma, but you should know most adults immediately discount the opinions of anyone childish enough to use grandma is such a derisive way. I looked up the word and I don’t see how it fits this. This is apparently to refer to someone trying too hard? But aren’t people wearing disney apparel not really trying hard at all? I mean, it’s not actually a striver look like a LV never full. I think this question would be interesting if people posted their age and whether they had kids. In my 20s, I probably would be appalled. In my late 40s, I think that life mostly sucks so anything you can do to put a smile on your face or someone else’s is generally a good thing. And I also see the attraction in juvenile things, having raised little kids. There is a simple beauty in stuff targeted at kids. And some of the disney stuff is truly a beautiful narrative (Up, Wall-E, Brave) and one that strikes closer to my heart than anything Tarantino would ever make. |
| People just love Disney, adult or not. In fact if you had 118K dollar laying around you could of been the proud owner of a Disney Cartier bracelet courtesy of Christie's Auctions. https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-6197904 |
| Of all the things I am going to judge people on.. this just doesn’t register. |
| I have a (cheap) ring from Disney because my then-5 year old secretly searched for a ring he thought I would like best and made a big production of presenting it to me. He's now 11 and it sits in my jewelry box, hardly worn, but much loved. |
I love Disney AND Tarantino, and I agree with you, PP. I have older teens who still enjoy going to WDW with their parents and are nostalgic about a lot of the characters they liked as kids. Me, I’m not decked out from head to toe in Disney gear, but if I had Disney-themed earrings or a wallet, why should anyone care? |
| Cheugy must be waning. Proof: It's been used unironically on DCUM. |
I didn’t call adults upright fuddy duddies. Just the ones who get off on how grown up they are and judge what other people wear. And your adult clothes are also….corporate, packaged, and sanitized. Unless you’re sewing your own clothes, guess what, they came from a corporation. Like PP said, we’re all walking billboards for some corporation. I prefer my adulthood to come in the form of having a fulfilling career, building a strong community, helping those less privileged than me, and raising my kids to be healthy and happy. Making myself dress in a way I don’t want to, just to fit in with groups I don’t care about, seems so….middle school. |
The people who love wearing Disney apparel are the same people who think that because something is expensive it is automatically high class. That’s not how it works. |
Gauche and devoid of class. |
| I have a Disney sweatshirt- minimalistic image- small character in the corner. It is probably 15-20 years older. Bought on a Disney trip with kids. It is warm and comfortable and I wear it with no thought other than - It is a little cold in/outside I need to grab a sweatshirt. Can’t believe people would judge me on this. That seems weird. |
Just because someone wears a Disney shirt does not mean they are devoid of class. How sad that you judge someone for what they wear instead of who they are. I would rather be with “classless” people who have a personality and don’t care what others think over a stuck up, judging, bore who lives their life to fit in with everyone. How sad that you actually feel that way. |

I don't care. Most of the adults I know who wear Disney stuff are also teachers, so I assume that the kids like it when they wear something like that. When I was in education, I also had more seasonal accessories and fun stuff I would wear.
Not everyone has to dress like a DC worker drone. |
I do actually sew some of my own clothes and I don’t wear corporate logos, proudly, like it’s my personality. |
My husband kind of likes a couple of shirts like this one. He's a techie that's been 100% WAH for years now so his every day wear is jeans and t-shirt. |
