Do you mean Pax? I have never heard it spelled with an i.

No, it’s Paix. French for peace.

So you’d expect everyone to correctly pronounce it “pay” and not “pakes?” Why would anyone do that to a kid?

Calm down! We’re just talking about unique names we like.

NP here, and I think Paix (as in French for peace) is the most absurd thing here.

PP is right that it would be pronounced like "pay", and...you know that Pax is Latin for peace anyway? I'm guessing no.

So what? Wow, you two have an enormous amount invested in a “liked” name of the unique and unusual category! Relax! You don’t even know which “you” you are trying to insult! NP here.

Ziggy isn’t unique or unusual anymore. All the wanna-be-hipsters named their kids Ziggy after the HBO show. There are two in DD’s class.

And no one is going to name their kid Cracker!! As in White Cracker?!

Yeah, we know a Lake, Shona, Ziggy, and Jax from this list. Also a River, mentioned elsewhere. And both Sienna and Seneca are popular out West where we have family, especially Sienna -- I grew up with several. And we don't travel in particularly off-beat circles -- these are the kids of lawyers and consultants and teachers and academics.

But Cracker is absolutely insane. So is Biscuit and Cookie! Zipper? What on earth?

You again? You seem unusually triggered by the responses to Paix. It’s time to stop drinking for the evening, sis.
