What potentially toxic food did you love to eat when growing up?

Didn't McD's fry the fries in beef fat? Or at least add a little to the oil? Not banned, just changed because of consumer whining, uh, demand.

And they used to fry instead of bake the apple pies. Still do in some countries. And when we were kids there were cookies in happy meals.

In 9th grade, which was jr. high in my district, there were about 10 of us who had a later lunch period than everyone else because of a weird scheduling thing. I regularly lunched on Lay's sour cream n onion chips, Little Debbie cake rolls, and a grape drink. Usually most of the good food was gone by then.

I'm pregnant too and eating a lot like this. I can't cook anything, so it has to be packaged or made by someone else. LOVE Filet-o-fish!

Wendy's spicy chicken sandwiches are my true love, though.

When we ran out of milk, I would pour my Frosted Flakes into a half-empty tub of Cool Whip. If the tub was full when I opened it, I would eat half of the Cool Whip straight before pouring in the cereal. Spooned it up with gusto!

I liked a kid in eighth grade and gave him an 8-foot long Slim Jim (coiled in a rope) for his birthday. His thank-you note had a grease stain on it from said Slim Jim.

This is so gross -- but when I was a kid, my mom would patty out hamburgers she would always eat a little bit of the raw ground beef. And I definitely remember doing the same thing a couple of times! Thank god we never got some horrible stomach bug or e coli...

Just a couple of weeks ago, I shamefully admitted to my husband that I used to do this when I was a kid! Then he said he used to do it, too! Obviously we were meant for each other. And, you know, yuck.

Other stuff - Ho-Ho's! And they used to have cherry pies at McDonald's all the time, not just a couple weeks a year. Those were the best when they were deep-fried in the lard like they did when we were kids.

Someone mentioned pixie sticks - on my swim team 20 years ago we used to pound Jell-O powder right from the box before racing for a quick burst of energy.

I ate 2 Cadbury Creme eggs, 2 mini Reese's PB cups, and a pre-packaged alfajor today. So, I'm still eating the bad stuff. To top it off, I'm sick today (unrelated from the food).

I grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country and used to go to German Oktoberfest celebrations when I was a kid and they served raw ground beef on toast topped with raw onions and ground pepper. I forget what it was called, but we all ate it. And, then of course there were the ringdings, devil dogs, sweet tarts, pixie stix, cheetos, captain crunch, bologna, and all that other good stuff. Plus, my mom would put a full stick of butter on just about anything she was cooking, especially chicken and fish. What I wouldn't give for a hostess creme filled chocolate cupcake right about now.

I used to eat mayo straight from the jar.
