Is saying “ No way Jose” culturally insensitive?

Something the Gringx invented to be politically correct, but most Latinos hate it.

Please cite the OPM law/policy/regulation which states using this phrase is grounds for termination. Even once.

I think you will find you can't find such a citation. Thus, you couldn't be more wrong as many feds will attest. We've all heard PLENTY worse than than, multiple times, and nothing usually happens to the perpetrators. Especially if they are managers. Nothing.

Don't refer to people as LatinX unless that's their preferred naming convention. It's incredibly rude.

Okay, I can’t resist... WHY will/should using this phrase get you fired?

I want to know this, too. The phrase is not based on stereotypes about Hispanic or Latin people, it doesn't say or imply anything derogative about Hispanic or Latin people, it's literally just rhyming the name with the phrase "no way." That's it.

Also, I have been in federal service for over a decade, and can't imagine someone being fired for saying this, unless it also involved insubordination.

I've heard plenty worse, because this saying is not bad. At all. And apparently no one else can explain why it's offensive. It's supposed to be obvious that using the name Jose is offensive, but I don't see how.

Hit the road, Jack.

Just because the name is Spanish doesn't make it insensitive to use.

My fellow woke Gringos are the problem for all this sensitivity crap. Why this is even a topic is just plain sad. Perhaps Paul Simon's song, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover should be banned. There's just too many WASP-y names in it and I'm offended.

I also think we need to stop saying 'peeping Tom', 'Murphy's Law', 'Take the Mickey' and 'Keeping Up with the Jones.' All so offensive!

Hate is a strong word.

And your individual compliance is not required. Fact remains: the correct term is Latinx.

Use it or face the consequences.

Definitely don't put anything in writing, either.

And yet you continue to do so.

So even if most Latinos don’t want to be called that it doesn’t matter what they want? That seems oppressive.

Latina here. What would the consequences be? This should be interesting.
