This! Gross to me.

What does a nose piercing have to do with hygiene? Do you know how much cleaning maintenance goes with getting a new piercing so that it doesn't cause infection. You sound really ignorant.

(with the exception of those who come from cultures where piercing is traditional)

This is dumb. You probably have earrings on the side of your face.

Agreed. Racist digs all along the thread.

Ok. How is this then:
If you are a person born in the United States, who has adopted US cultural norms, and does not identify with your traditional culture...then nose rings are usually an indicator of poor self esteem, especially when worn after the mid twenties.

So white standards of beauty are only what is normal and acceptable in the USA? Interesting.

Nope, American standards.

You are assuming I am white; plenty of non white people in the south. We also don't buy into the caste system here, and don't approve of genital mutilation, among other things.

Notice I didn't say you were white. I said your standard of beauty is the White American one which is very different. You're claim of what is American cultural standards is based in White, Puritanical Christian standards. The rest of your answer is nonsensical. [/quote

Yes. I live in the United States. Which was founded by puritans and slave owners and the slaves they owned. If I was born into another culture, my answer may be different.

OP asked our opinions of nose rings, if they are sexy, and we are giving them. If you don't like it, too bad.

Just hate snotty nose rings. Probably doesn't help that I have allergies and am a snot factory right now. Thinking of people cleaning the snot off their nose rings doesn't really make me feel super sexy.

PPs, the question asked for a personal opinion. One's personal opinion of "what is sexy" is strongly influenced by one's culture, time, and place.

Don't be offended if someone doesn't find your sexy, sexy. One person's nose ring is another's tattoo, is another person's wattle, is another's visible ankle, is another's leather, is another's lace, is another's manscaping, is another's spray tan, is another's red-bottomed stiletto, is another person's child-bearing hips, is another person's square jaw, and so on. What is sexy? There isn't one correct answer, and it is Ok to disagree and be grossed out and turned off by the things that other find sexy.

If you don't want to know the true opinion when you ask an anonymous stranger "is this sexy?" Don't ask. Sometimes the answer will be no.

If you want to look like a cow.

+ 1 million!!

Ugh, no.

I always think of a cow or pig on a farm.
Zero sexiness.

A diamond stud or a small hoop on the nose can be sexy w/the right person.

No. I have to admit, I judge such people as unstable (unless it’s a common cultural practice such as in South Asia).

Good Lord, no!

NO. Especially when you have to blow your nose.

A symptom of much larger problems.

I'm late but . . .

NO!

No. A small, understated nose stud can look ok on the right woman, but that’s it. Basically, other than earrings, piercings do nothing for most men (myself included).
