No, eating cannibal meat is what’s cheap. https://www.valleyproteins.com/about-us/ This company for example turns animal stuff into feed for cows and stuff. Do your cow most likely has eaten cow. Buy at least grass fed. You’ll eat healthier and probably less, because it’s way more expensive. |
| If you care at all about climate change and your children’s future, you will stop eating meat completely. |
Not really, because globally as income rises so does meat consumption. Evidence supports the conclusion that high amounts of meat consumption increases health risks, but there is no real consensus on what "high" means, besides the fact that it is also a matter of what else you eat. Vegans require B12 supplementation, you cannot get adequate B12 from a completely plant based diet. But you also don't need a lot of meat to get enough B12, and combining grains and legumes provides complete protein (btw I was a farm kid and used to know how to blend grain + soybean meal for swine rations. Also, pork raised with some range access is damned good.) "We know that meat is unhealthy" as a global pronouncement? No, where did you get your education? And yes, ag industry lobbying is part of it but not the only part. It is also true that a lot of agricultural land is not suited for crop production. Maybe if we limited beef consumption globally to the amount of animals that can be raised solely on range + hay (skip the grain feeding), adding in the animals that result from dairy production (not the same breeds raised for beef) and also did not clear forest areas for the express purpose of raising cattle, and if wealthier countries didn't take the vast majority of the meat produced, we'd all be ok. Not that that is likely to happen, although beef consumption in the US has been dropping for many years. |
The FDA's Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE)/Ruminant Feed Ban Rule. ... ^^ the valley protein site says it's products go only for poultry and swine feed. Your pig may have eaten bacon but your cow has not had a burger.
DS had a pet rabbit that was fond of ham, though. |

After the following link, some omnivores will go vegetarian forever. Cow can (as in by law)still eat cow blood and some other parts of cow. https://www.organicconsumers.org/news/they-eat-what-what-are-they-feeding-animals-factory-farms |
| because it is what we eat. You do you and leave everyone else alone. |
Yeah, no. They cost more, taste like crap and most of the kids won't eat them. Not going to happen. |
Ah, yes. The scientifically valid and oh-so-objective source known as organic consumers dot com. LOL. |
It’s .org, not .com. Here is a Georgetown edu link, which also links to The NY Times. https://blogs.commons.georgetown.edu/cctp-638-yy326/claims-and-facts/are-cows-eating-dead-cows-as-feed/ |
And let the meat eating, anti-science morons destroy the planet?? No thanks. The environment belongs to us all. |
No, "we" do not know this. I'm a registered dietitian ... you? |
Another type of indoctrination. Lovely. |
| Well then in this vein why do schools serve anything containing high fructose corn syrup? Proven to be much more damaging to cellular health than meat. |
|
Because humans evolved eating meat and vegetarians are looking for any faulty reason to impose their will and lifestyle on others.
Just to make sure my family cancels out your life style, tonight I’m going to cook some steaks on the charcoal grill. |
