Said by someone who hasn't driven one. Everyone has different priorities, and that is perfectly fine. If you're someone who cares about the exterior look of the car above all else and have a particular look in mind, are fine with a car that isn't very zippy or don't care about acceleration off the line, and want the traditional look of a luxury vehicle on the interior, being all-electric is not important to you, and/or technology improvements are not important to you, then a Tesla is not for you. OP suggested that she wants a zippy car. For the price point, the acceleration of a Tesla beats most if not all of the cars suggested so far. Believe me, I get it, I held my nose about the look when taking it for a test drive, but it is so fun to drive that it fast became the #1 priority (for me). Those of us who own one are suggesting a test drive because that can really change opinions about priorities. On the clearance, I don't go off-roading beyond general gravel or non-paved country roads so I've never had a problem (I wouldn't think most people around here go off-roading either but I digress...). |
| OP about to negotiate on a car. As a last ditch effort where in the world can I try a model Y Tesla in the Rockville MD area? Tesla folks, do you have any suggestions? I want to try this evening. |
You're all over the map. |
Nope, I've decided. Last minute thought. I'm settled. Thanks! |
| What car are you getting? |
Do tell! |
| I feel very let down after all this that OP didn’t tell us what they settled on |
OP here. I will follow up. It's not yet a done deal! |
|
OP again! Okay! Drumroll! It took til yesterday and the deal is finalized. Thanks to all who replied with suggestions of possible cars. I started out with the intention of buying a 2019 or 2020 Audi Q 5, then considered the BMW X3, then tried each of these in a hybrid. I don’t know why you only get 20 miles of hybrid power in these? Then tried V6 engines in each. Tried 2020 Porche Macan 4 cylinder and V6. Peered into a neighbor’s Tesla and it was far to bland looking inside and I’m not ready for all electric either.
Special thanks to the person who recommended the Mercedes Benz GLC 300 4matic. Never thought of myself as a Mercedes driver and now I am! This car has the right mix of luxury, comfort and drive for us! Purchased a 2021 that someone had returned with 328 miles on it. Because it was previously titled it had to be sold as used. It’s got upgraded sound, lighting inside and out, running boards, technology and more. It even has a factory installed Mercedes hitch (bikes). It had our name on it and my son and I are thrilled and I’m relieved. Thanks again all. |

Trying to copy a picture. Metallic Grey. I hope this works. If not can someone tell me how to copy a picture on this site? |
| Thanks, OP. I think you just convinced us on the mb glc, too! |
| Congrats! Sounds pretty 🤩 |
| Congrats! |
Wow! That’s so cool? Are yo in the marker for a car? Make sure it’s at least the 4matic. Let me know if you do end up with one. I have a used car salesman to recommend if you’re shopping in Bethesda. Smile. |
Yikes. Trying again. So cool! Are you in the market for a car? I liked my sales person. |
