Downsize your expectations a ton with that budget. I don't think you can find a townhouse at that price point.

You all are absolutely ridiculous. Of course there are. But if you're stupid enough to base your decisions about a school on rating sites and think predominately black or Hispanic schools are subpar, yes, there are no schools around for you. Meanwhile, plenty of decent schools available, within 30 minutes to DC, and under 500k homes in PG.

the worst school that feeds bethesda is still better than every other school in Silver Sprig and a silver spring school is better than all of PG

Twinbrook! We live here and love it. Most houses are under $500k and we're happy with the schools.

Odenton, but at $500k max, you’re probably looking at an older split level home there.

I don't know how you can come up with that nonsense. No school in Bethesda is academically better than Blair, none.
Unless by "better", you mean more whites...

Put the wine down lady, Blair is a joke to everyone but the DCC. If anyone in a W wanted their kids to go their they would have bought one of the nicest houses zoned for it. A school filled with poor people isn’t hard to get into

Blair envy is strong with this one.

Forest Knolls ES- 8/10
SSI Middle School- 6/10
Can try to lottery into Blair HS

I second silver spring but the number of sub-$500k houses are not what they used to be. Several friends have been bid out recently and prices in our hood have gone for more than I would have thought.

Not the OP but I’d live some specific suggestions that meet these criteria. Maybe I’m just searching wrong.

I’d say I’d is true at the ES level and a lot of options have been captured already. But I suggest OP look at the other thread about PG school pyramids because the options for decent MS goes down quite a bit unless you get into one of the lottery programs. Bowie is good but not 30 minutes to most places in DC during rush hour.

Seeking insight on Duval high school and Thomas Johnson middle school. Any thoughts?

We are looking for the same thing but not vastly majority black. Also one hour commute max from K street.
