Absolutely. I do think though that most kids on an ECNL team have at least a hope or goal of playing at college. |

Who cares if they post the schedule. Why are so worked up about them posting schedules.
Because as a matter of practice clubs/teams use apps like TeamSnap and SportsEngine for team communication. They simply don't post schedulea online because, why?
because the people loading the schedules into team snap probably don't have administrator privileges on the website. The people loading team snap are probably also parents who don't care about updating a club's website
Well that and the fact that teamsnap is custom designed for the purpose, easily updated etc. and a subscription includes technical support. And you think clubs should build and maintain their own webpages to do this? If my DC's club did this I wuld immediately assume that the web-site builder was a board member's cousin or somethuing similar. |
| BRYC Bernie is not licensed and I don’t know if any of the other coaches in the u9-12 group are? Yes- they are all paid. |
BN has no actual playing experience. That's the most likely reason why he doesn't coach ECNL. |
Either that or he coaches u9-u12 and ECNL starts at u13. |
He may not have as much playing experience as some of the other coaches here. He has2 DDs that played D1. My DS played for him for u9 and u10. We now play ECNL and I will tell you BN is a much better coach than anyone of the coaches we been given since him. JS, AF, CJ, none have helped my DS get better like BN. |
You didnt exactly disprove the U9-U12 part. The skillset to coach U9’s is very different than coaching U17’s. It sounds like he has found the right fit but that doesnt mean he would be a good ECNL coach or a good coach for older kids. |
I do know that he is much better then our current ECNL coach. I just wish weren't in too deep in here. Its too late in the gameto jump to SYC or Mclean for my DS |
Oh - not the NCSL teams are better than local ECNL teams BS again. No they're not. It is just about possible that the very best NCSL team in one or two age groups is on a par with the very worst ECNL team in that age group. For the most part there is a massive gap and the best NCSL team is significantly inferior to the second team of the ECNL club. |
Again, no you don't know that he would be better. A good 2nd grade teacher may not make a good middle or high school teacher. And there is nothing wrong with that. Frankly, if a coach is very good at reaching younger kids and keeping them motivated, happy and learning then that coach is the perfect spot. |
Ok well I can tell you from first hand experience. The spiral began once AF was handed over our team. Now that CJ is coaching us its gotten worse. Pretentious egos and lack of respect for both players and parents. uuugggg it makes me sick. |
Two things are possible: 1. Your ECNL coach is not very good. 2. Your former U11-12 coach would also not be a very good 11v11 coach. |
Everything you hear coming out of that club is unhappy after unhappy families. Why do you stick around ? What haven't the coaches told you not to post on this board ? |
I ma not at the club. My angle is simple. Find a coach you like. Use your previous coach as an ideal but what about him was it that connected to your son? My other point is, wishing your old coach was still your coach at a older age group is the wrong way to look at it. Again, soccer gets more complicated and you had addressed the coach's overall lack of playing and coaching experience. The game and its coaching demands 11v11 onwards get more complicated. being a great U11 coach does not always translate to U13, U14 etc. On the flip side, expecting Pep Guardiola to be a great youth coach would be just as disastrous. So, think about your previous coaches personality traits and look for that in a appropriate experienced coach for your kids current age group. |
This is definitely true, although some coaches excel with both young and older kids - but they need to combine two separate skillsets to do so. |
