Again, look at a map of her district. Smart people do not stay in places like that.

Poor rural folks aren’t automatically stupid. I reject that assertion. However, if they voted for her they are.

Not automatically, of course not. But for the most part people with critical thinking abilities in GA-14 will go to Atlanta or Athens for college and they will not return to their hometowns.

This is one of the ways that brain drain affects the whole country. Red states and districts without good educational institutions and economic opportunity will send crazier and crazier folks to Congress.

I think there should be a baseline for electing someone to Congress. It doesn't even necessarily need to be education - Hawley went to Harvard and Oxford and he's still an asshole.

But maybe 2 years of community organizing or involvement in some way. You need to live where you represent. You also preferably should have some experience in local elections first (could be county clerk for all I care).

Why has the present-day GOP become a repository for all these looney tunes?

I don't know, but they sure are. Kevin McCarthy makes Newt Gingrich look positively Jeffersonian and that is a heavy lift.
Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan, Tommy Tuberville---they are not just venal but incredibly stupid to boot. But Marjorie Taylor Greene may rapidly rise to the top of the horrid pile. She is ghastly.
I wish all members of Congress---in order to be sworn in---had to take and pass the same citizenship test we require of immigrants seeking naturalization.

It's "Gym" Jordan.

Video of her harassing David Hogg.

She really is despicable.

As a school shooting survivor myself if I ever seen her in person I plan on giving her a big F YOU!

She is a despicable human being. This has nothing to do with disagreeing with her on issues. She is sick to harass a school shooting survivor. I cannot even watch the hate she spews. She doesn't deserve to be an American let along a Congresswoman.

She exemplifies the GOP.

She is, appropriately, from Milledgeville, Ga, the home of Georgia's infamous insane asylum for lunatics.

What kind of white trash elects people like her?

In no way do I approve of anything she's doing or stands for either, but please think about what you're saying. Columbia University stands where Bloomingdale Insane Asylum was located.

It's personal for her. Pretty sure she represents Newtown.

Every single day the GOP is asked, what is the right thing to do for our country, for our kids, for our vulnerable populations (eg, older people, children, people who are disabled, poor, LGBTQ). And every single day, they choose the opposite.

I now think all National elected officials should be able to pass a security background check

Ask and you shall receive.

In the primary she beat the runner up by 19 points. Then she won the runoff by 14 points. Then she won the general with 74.7% of the vote.

Welcome to rural NW Georgia folks!

During previously unreported meetings last summer, House Republican leaders discussed — but then largely set aside — fears that QAnon-supporting conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene would end up a flaming trainwreck for their party.

Most of this was known six months ago and McCarthy ignored it.
