I believe this is video of this case. All you naysayers turned out to be wrong (the video is pretty horrifying):

Wow, that woman is tough. I wonder if I'd have the nerve to fight back like that.

it's not hard to see how the revolving door of car theft in DC ("victimless property crime") leads to a terrifying assault like this.

“That’s what insurance is for,” one of my all-time
fave DCUM responses

The theft occurred in Chevy Chase, MD and the perpetrator was from Oxon Hill, MD. The only link to DC was the victim.

There is a raft of MD to DC car crime. It is all interconnected. We are known as "the DMV".

Ummm... Wow...

The DCUM crowd was quick to blame the victim.

But I am sure there will be a full investigation once her car is recovered and arrests will be prompt and the perpetrators will stay in prison past their 26th birthdays.

There has already been an arrest.

I believe with "Allen's Law" the key factor is committing your crime before age 26. You may stay in prison, if convicted, past your 26th birthday--but you will be assured a hearing for sentencing reduction. As far as I know, Allen's Law put in no additional supports for rehabilitation and reform while incarcerated, enhanced supervision upon release, etc. Allen also is vehemently against the judge "considering" the originating crime when considering sentencing reduction- ie, watching this video and the heinous disregard for another human being's life and well being.

Since this crime was committed in Maryland and the suspect was arrested in Maryland and charged in Maryland, neither DC law nor CM Allen have anything to do with it.

I support meaningful rehabilitation for criminals. The problem with DC "rehabilitation laws" like Allen's is they pertain to early release and other leniency measures with no reform (education, training, counseling) while incarcerated or follow through upon release. Hopefully MD can do better!

Most cannot be rehabilitated and belong in prison and mental hospitals for life.

Giving them get out of jail free cards, benefits and apartments in upper NW that they don't deserve or public service jobs they aren't qualified for isn't in the best interest of law abiding citizens.

Whut? Who came up with this hare brained program? Instead of benefits/apartments/jobs - use those funds to provide vocational training why they're in jail, combined with the loud message they screw up again, tough luck to them.

I wonder if 19 year old Tyrece A. Jones is a first time offender who just happened to start out with an armed carjacking?

According to the online Maryland court-case lookup, it was his first arrest. He also has not been arrested in DC.

Color me stunned. First time offender and he was busted for an armed car jacking. He is destroying all of the stereo types. I really would not have guess that armed car jacking was an entry level crime.

And the video indicates that he had a real lack of empathy for the victim. I am surprised that this was his first.
