The only people I know that can French braid their own hair are/were in theater or the military and have had to do it daily for years. I remember French braiding my mom’s hair when I was in high school! I can’t do my own but I will braid my girls hair whenever they ask.
My seven year old only just started brushing her own thick straight her but she’s very immature so we’re working slowly with her on being more independent. Bath time is next... |

NP. Mine is just 5 and has long hair that I do every morning and at night. She is free to get a cut whenever she is ready to. Right now she wants to grow it and it's a bit of a PITA for us, but not that big of a deal.
When I was a kid, I had short hair mostly and then grew it when I was 14-15. I didn't really know how to braid it nicely and my mom would do it for me every morning. Even after I learned it, it was our sort of ritual and she would make my hair and it was sweet. I remember that time very fondly. And I will teach my kid how to do her hair but also be there to help her as long as she needs. Absolutely no shame here about this !! |
