SIL too strict on toys

Anonymous
I don’t see this as “too strict”. Her choices differ than yours, and that’s cool because it’s her family. So, stop sending what YOU want her kids to have, and start sending what she (and presumedly your brother or BIL, want their kids to have). There are literally millions of options that don’t fall into the few categories you’ve listed. As already stated, a list is an easy way to solve this issue.

I applaud her for standing up for what she feels is right, even if the many the relationship won’t. He either won’t stand up to her, or stand up to you.

I don’t want those crap toys either. And I would definitely get rid of them after a short time. It bothers me that people think they can dump a bunch of crap on our tiny home. No thanks. A book is always appreciated.

We're also very picky about the toys our kids play with, and crap like it sounds like OP is giving goes into a bin in the basement and the kids forget about it. LOL and Barbie aren't appropriate for a 3 year old, IMO. Try more appropriate things for those ages like trains or games.
