Is Harry & David good or is it now considered tacky?

I always roll my eyes at people who dredge up old threads to comment for no reason.

Totally this!

I love to receive H & D pears. They are the best in the world.

I'd stick to ONLY the fruit. The snack stuff is low quality garbage you find at tourist traps or Cracker Barrel store.

I received some of their mini loaf cakes. They may be full of unhealthy oils and sugar, but they were moist and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised. I stuck them in our freezer and would pull one out when the kids wanted something sweet. They weren’t a bad gift.

No to Harry & David and gourmet baskets in general. Always disappointed to receive these as gifts. The cheese and pastries always taste like emergency food and the chocolates are mediocre! Just give a nice bottle of red wine and order amazing pecan clusters from Sunnyland Farms!

A cousin (from SF) sends us (here in the midwest) a box of Harry&David pears for Christmas. It was always a delight to receive them.
BUT not this year 2024.I thought the 7/7 tiny apple pie ( without the pears) was a prank! It was pathetic, dried apples sunken to the bottom of the crust !! Even now I am still insulted and annoyed😏.

I'd like to send a gift basket to someone who did me a very big favor, but somehow I get the impression from this site that Harry & David is like the Olive Garden of food delivery. What are people's opinions?

Well trying to live up to the standards of this site is your problem. There are posters here who would consider Faberge to be on par with Kay’s.

It's a little ridiculous to be insulted. Surely your cousin just bought it off the website and thought the apple pie would be as good quality as the pears and had no way of knowing they'd be crap.

These days I send food gifts from Popcorn for the People. The packaging is fun, the popcorn is delicious and I feel good about where my money is going. Just another option to consider.

It’s not tacky at all. It’s a nice gesture.

I would be happy to receive this from Harry and David. But I get pretty good pears at the grocery store.
