where do you think you'll retire?

Some place on the south coast of Jamaica (unless it gets developed in which case I will head for the mountains), with a second home (studio) on Ille St. Louis in Paris.

Question for those of you planning to retire to other countries- how do you handle visas/residency? I lived in South America for a few years and did not have a legitimate work visa, so I had to leave and come back every 3 months. Just curious what others plan to do.

Lucky for me I was born (and hold a passport) in the country where I hope to retire. Seriously though, given that you will be retired you would not need a work visa and could get away being a "tourist" for a while.

I really haven't given it much thought and love it where we are now. Part of me wouldn't mind staying here and part of me wouldn't mind a change of scenery. I've always been a city girl, but could perhaps deal with a charming smaller town if I didn't completely feel like I was in the boonies. But to DH, the more secluded the better. He mocks me for being such an urbanite. I don't know if we'll ever agree on where we'll end up, so luckily that decision is a long ways off.

This is my husband. I don't know how you could pick up and move to the boonies and be happy. I love the outdoors but think I would get bored.

I will retire to my grave.

"I feel sorry for you"

I laugh at your ignorance and hope for you that you some day move away from Mommy and Daddy. What will you do when they die?

Same.
