| Play on. Spectator limits suck and its hard to do a one size fits all approach for all sports. Small sacrifice to let the kids play before the lock downs in winter. |
| Looks like some teams from Bethesda Cup were added to the Nation's Capital Cup yesterday. |
Northam has not been favorable to sports. Other governors had outdoor sports allowed in their states long before he did. And while mandating masks and social distancing for everyone, he was taking selfies in VA Beach without any social distancing or mask. The only reason tournament organizers are imposing these restrictions is because they fear that Northam will fine them and shut them down. Prior to his order, this tournament was to allow spectators, albeit with a mask wearing requirement. Northam's order changed everything. |
| No spectators at an outside event is crazy. I wonder if they’ll be strictly enforcing that... |
They won't. Went to OGBC tournament Labor Day with strict rules with only two members per family and brought 4-5. People had masks but weren't always socially distanced and some were without masks when away from others. Had game at SoccerPlex last month and it was same deal. Be smart. Wear mask near people. Don't if you are alone and want it off. They're just trying to avoid having big crowds but nobody is regulating by asking people which kid they're coming to see. |
Christ- you are clogging up the sidelines with your 7 guests, F@cker. People need space to spread out on the sidelines and your clan took up a half. Selfish, selfish. |
|
They will absolutely enforce. The tournament is being sponsored by MYS. They are not about to risk their charter to operate a soccer club and season to allow a few parents to gather on the sidelines. Sorry. Let the players play on with some kind of livestream.
The only people allowed to be present are team admins (for once being an admin pays off) who handle the roster/cards. |
Not much for persuasion, huh? You are doing more harm than good. Keep your fingers quiet even if ranting makes you feel better. |
|
We were told it would be enforced. Each team gets one warning and if spectators don’t disburse that team will be deemed a forfeit. So please don’t do this.
Our team is looking into live streaming games. |
|
Have an 8am and 6:30 pm which stinks, but good for organizers hanging in there. I’ll gladly sit in car and advise all parents except TM to do the same for 10 and up. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be for people trying to pull this off.
The idiot a Northam and crew looking for any excuse to shut down sports completely. Democrats would lose all VA outside NOVA for a generation if he did that though and he knows it. |
If you happen to have games at Embry Mill Park those will be streamed free. https://www.ballertv.com/events/the-nation-s-capital-cup-boys-weekend |
| Our team manager is going to live stream from an app which is so nice. |
Yep. Team will be forfeited 5-0. Our manager sent details and rules. No parents allowed. No team benches. Teams on opposing sides if the field. |

My kid played last week at the columbia tournament. it was a one spectator per player, as the team manager enforced it. the desperate emails from the TD to the team managers were crazy. i felt so bad for him. people sending him crazy emails. for christsake, if you want them to play just follow the rules. they had to reschedule/rebracket, it must have been a nightmare. only then to have entitled parents thinking that they can just do what ever they want. no spectators, means no spectators. you drive them there, so they can play. i love to watch my son play, but he loves to play more than anything. for that i will sit in the damn car.
he was supposed to guest with a team in the bethesda tourney this weekend and now the team is playing in the nations cup, and i will drive an hour each way and sit in the car. so he can play. |
| Just think about how refreshing it will be for the kids to play without parents yelling the entire match. The refs will probably enjoy it, too. |
