The Mulroney's are a very powerful family - her FIL was PM, there were whispers earlier this year about Ben running for the conservative leadership, Ben's sister Carolyn is a Provincial Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister in Ontario. Jessica's family, the Brownsteins, also have a business empire.

A black Canadian IG influencer Sasha in Jessica's social sphere made a general post about how she wished those with broader reach would speak out in allyship with black lives matter. Jessica felt the comment was directed at her because she had not made a public comment. Then Jessica contacted Sasha directly about this perceived slight. And I guess because she didn't like what was said, Jessica threatened to use her privilege and power to get advertisers to end their partnerships with Sasha. Sasha fought back by going public with the threat.

Does anyone have info on the original post where Sasha called out in a general way for more public support of BLM? I have not found that anywhere and I was curious how it was worded that Jessica thought it was directed at her. Yes, this whole thing turned on J really fast - to lose every single gig and sponsor she ever had within days - but not sure how she thought she’d ever get away with a two faced sweet public apology and minutes later privately threatening Sasha. She had to know there would be receipts.

He's riding on his last name. I'm not sure anyone takes him seriously.

Ben (Jessica's husband) recently quit his job on E-Talk (Canadian entertainment show) and hopes they will hire someone more diverse.

He also hosted Canadian Idol for the few years it was around.

His dad was PM. Some liked him, some didn't.
