I can't believe the concerted hate effort on DCUM against teachers for something the teachers haven't even said. Really, really weird.

Fairfax closed its public pools. does DC have private pools people join as members or are they all run by DC govt?

How do I support the local retail that are not allowed to open (stupidest rule EVER!!!)

I've been ordering from those businesses online but is there any way to support the local stores, so they can move their inventory?

TIA

What do you mean Fairfax closed its public pools? Closed until when? My understanding is that N. VA is just beginning to reopen pools.

I know! I don’t even know what they’re talking about because my ES and MS kids in DCPS have had great teachers. I think they must be parents of preK, which would be difficult to do online.

They closed the Water Mine, Pirates Cove, Our Special Harbor, and stuff like that. Some of the private and HOA pools might still open though.

Wouldn't a private pool in DC be subject to the same restrictions as any other business? Although the Mayor seems to just be letting everything open now.

Construction workers are not packed into a 12-foot room with 25 other students for 8 hour days.

They are outside, spread out, often the solo person manning heavy machinery.

Its actually safer to be on a construction crew breathing fresh air than the recycled air classrooms with 3,000 coughing students in the same building.

+1000 Jesus Christ, people. We’re sorry that you had kids you can’t deal with being around 24 hours a day, but we’re not going to send little Petri dishes to school just so you can get a break from them and then unleash them on to the rest of society. We all know half of you aren’t keeping your kids quarantined anyways and the other half would sue the school system and government to kingdom come if your kid got it at school anyways so there’s no point. I cannot believe the selfishness of the parents that continue to spout on about schools and pools reopening despite common sense.

the point is - why are indoor restaurants and construction allowed to happen before school does? what about parents who can't work due to child care?

I suspect much of the construction was about contracts signed and in place and most construction work is done with a lot of social distance anyways and much of it is outdoors. We signed a contract to do outside work on our house.

PP, people are tired of hearing the child care whining. Have grandma watch your kid or a neighbor watch your kid like people have been doing for 100's of years.

We're not going to be in a place where all the stores are open but the schools remain closed. That just isn't going to happen.

+1

Maryland county here. Our stores have reopened and are busy. Whole families are in the stores. We have lines outside of Ross and Five Below.

This certainly was an option ... in 1959, where this person apparently is posting from.

Good lord, you're a terrible person.

Oh, you're TIRED! Well making sure not to annoy anyone is definitely more important than being able to keep our jobs and not neglect our children. Thanks for that reminder.

Also, it's 2020. Grandma has to go to work. So do the neighbors.
