Two very different looks and styles. That's the whole appeal -- the show gives us both the "safe," loving, committed guy with a great brain and sense of humor, and daring, dashing, insanely gorgeous guy with a great brain and sense of humor. Both work for me. Good chemistry between them too, as never-fully-trusting friends.

Bonus: Fantasy Manhattan setting. So clean, always room on the sidewalk, always a street parking space just when you want one....

I hear ya on the short shorts. I watched an old episode several months ago and was surprised at those shorts.

I also thought he was still hot in a different way as Monica's older boyfriend on Friends.

My mom is in her mid-eighties and while recently watching TV together, the beginning credits for Sanford and Son started playing. My mom lit up and said Oooooooohhh LAMONT!!! It literally made my year. I remember she watched it when I was a little kid, but had no idea she had a crush on him. I agree, he's actually very cute.
