this had little to do with the pandemic. sadly, this was a long time coming.

What is the best way to search for the 990s of different schools? Thanks!

Keep in mind the religious schools don't file 990s.

Ok, thanks. I was actually curious about a few episcopal schools.

Yeah, we’re looking at Sandy Spring and wish we could see the financials.

Doesn't your school send out an annual report to all parents and also have a State of the School put on by the HOS ?

Sandy Spring is a school where you can go ahead and ask your questions. Things will be tight following the pandemic for everyone, but SSFS is pretty sound financially.

I will agree about Barnesville.

It has lost a ton of teachers. Administration is incompetent and honestly no experience.

Evidence?

Middle school:

Their social studies teacher left after Christmas this year. Their Spanish teacher just up and quit last spring before school ended, and the school couldn't get anyone to teach the rest of the school year.
They've been through 3 science teachers in 2 years. One of them quit after the winter break too. They can't field athletic teams because the enrollment is so low, and they had trouble doing their fall play this year for the same reason. I don't know about elementary, but middle is suffering a lot. Something is going on to have such high teacher turnover.

I'm going to add the HOS has zero experience and it shows. Second in command same. Turnover caused by the lack of strong leadership and lack of experience. Barnesville's leadership has been horrible for quite a few years. Academics are subpar, particularly in the MS.

I suspect the small school we are planning to attend in the fall might go belly up as well :-/ Only K so at least it’s easy to transition elsewhere.

Seneca Academy has a group of parents who have joined together to try and save the school. So don’t count our school out yet!

We are trying. My kid is an alumnus. It's a school worth saving!

Just because you haven’t heard of it doesn’t mean others haven’t. Obviously a lot of people have had a good experience at the school from the above comments.

Yes. This is a small community school that is beloved in the Darnestown/Gaithersburg area. Please don't put it down just because you haven't heard of it. It's not kind at all.
