They're proposing that all Americans recieve their full regular paycheck saries from the govt until this is over. Utterly insane. Dems want it so that no American has to sacrifice anything during a hardship. The Greatest Generation is rolling in their graves at the Dem proposal. People had to suffer through the Great Depression for Christ's sake, yet Democrats don't want people to have to endure any difficulties. Too bad. We all have to sacrifice. The Democrats' proposal will blow up the budget for years with mind warping amounts of debt. If you think this is bad, wait until the piper has to get paid for the Democrats' proposals and severe austerity measures are needed. Yes, we need an emergency spending bill, but it isn't carte blanche to spend unlimited amounts of money so that no one has to feel pain. We cannot allow the entire solvency of the country and financial health of the US to be as risk for generations upon generations of future Americans to be jeopardized because we are all too much of a wuss to endure any pain. Wait until the world drops the dollar as the preferred currency because we are too indebted. Now THAT would be real pain. Absolutely no one should be guaranteed their full salary in Uncle Sam's tab. Phase in spending and add more if needed until it is over. Demanding unlimited money is idiotic.

Oh STFU! You are exactly why we are in this sh!t right now. Shut.it.up! No one wants to hear it.

Blow me...

You moronic democrats are extremely selfish and give ZERO Fs about the financial health of the country for our children. Spend unlimited amounts of money now so everyone feels comfy. Ruin the country for our kids for generations. Moron.

So you are all for letting Mnuchin hand out $500 billion secretly to companies, but not helping the average wage earner?

You dimocrats fail to understand that it is part of a multipronged approach. You're absolutely damn right business needs to be bailed out. If we do nothing there will be NO JOBS for people to go back to once this is over. Stimulus money will also be given to individuals, but that doesn't mean unlimited amounts of spending should happen. People will have to sacrifice. We cannot let the country become insolvent because no one wanted to give up their cushy lifestyles temporarily. Have you seen how bad Greece got? That's the path we are headed on. Stop trying to attach economic relief to insane AOC Green New Deal initiatives and diversities of corporate board, which have nothing to do with fighting a pandemic. Democrats are going to absolutely pounded at the polls once the public learns they're suffering more than they need to because Democrats are trying to jam through insane Social Justice initiatives attached to the bill. The voters will take it out on Democrats for starting The Great Depression 2.

Putting cash in consumers hands helps keep the businesses running.

No it doesn't, because if everyone is under stay in place orders you can't spend money that easily. Right now, businesses need cash infusions to stay solvent or else all of society collapses and no one has jobs to go back to.

Business come and go. People have to eat. It is more important to keep people home for a short time vs bail out businesses over and over again. Republicans f this up by being partisan. If the airlines goes under the assets and routes will be sold and another company will continue operations.

ALL PARTIES NEED TO QUIT WITH THE JUNK GODDAMNIT. Stop playing politics with this. Clean bills only that are directly related to pandemic relief only. Congress needs to be nuked from orbit if they don't do something quick.

Tell that to the guy who has worked 20 years to build a successful mom and pop business. They generally rely on incoming revenue to stay afloat. Having a profitable business doesn't mean you can go months with no revenue.

I know hat this is too far in the weeds, but what about college students that have filed but are listed as dependents on their parent’s taxes for 2018 and 2019?
And what if they graduated in December of 2019 and are now a working adult in 2020?

(I have one of each)

What "JUNK" did the Democrats put in theirs? Student loan forgiveness that helps the economy? What else?

None of those timing shenanigans are in the House bill that I can see. Basically you’re a “qualified individual” who makes less than $75K and a US citizen and over 18.

Pelosi wants to forgive $10000 of student loans. Those kids at the beach on Spring break will be thrilled.

Prove to me that Steve Mnuchin has any intention of using one dime of his $500B slush fund to help "mom and pop businesses" and I might listen.

But you know he doesn't.

I've seen $10k to $20k to $30k cited. I'll believe it when I see it.

If this becomes a thing, don’t whine when tuitions double in 5 years.

That is bottom line money that goes right into spending in the economy for food, rent, medicine etc.

I can confirm that it’s $10K, minus any contributions by the Treasury on behalf of borrowers who can’t pay their loans during the Crisis.

+ 2 I don't think they truly understand how desperate and angry people are.
