What regular jobs? Hoe can these businesses stay afloat? There are going to be a lot more lay-offs. |
Wow -- and early one evening in April 1912, only the first couple of decks of the Titanic were getting moist.... |
NP here. Came here to post just this. I don’t think the kids are going back until fall. At least that’s what I’m bracing for. |
This seems like a pretty minor problem in the greater scheme of things. Have some perspective. |
Everyone gets pushed back a year, so your child would do another year of preschool. |
They won't do that. They'll all move on to the next grade. Missing a semester of school is NBD, except for math. They'll have to do lots of review this fall. |
Sorry, there is no way she’s finishing that this semester. Start mentally preparing. |
“Review”? No - they’d have to review the first 1/2 of the school year (after such a long break - way more than just the summer drain) *and* cover new material missed from the second 1/2 half. There is no rush. Just repeat the grade for everyone. Preschool can wait. Seniors can opt out for gap year if they’ve already met requirements. . |
^ my kid does not need to repeat 8th grade. He already has 7 HS credits and all As.
Totally ready for HS. |
Ummm. The Rising 5/6 year olds will not repeat preschool. They don’t have seats to keep a majority of students back a grade in these over-crowded schools. They will move to the next grade. |
Exactly. Who cares about a missed semester when literally everyone is in the same boat? |
Ha! Oh, how I wish this was true. -DP |
How can they move to the next grade when they didn’t learn the material of the current grade? Especially math? It makes no sense. |
OMG, are you posting this in every thread? I can’t think of many things less important than a driver’s ed class. JFC. |
Not everyone. There are tiger parents who will use this time 110%, and then there are parents who struggle in life or need to work or... you name it. The achievement gap is going to widen even more. |
