This title made me laugh. Of course the most obese nation in the world is worried about running out of food.

It is recommended that for any emergency the household have a 3 day supply of food, water, and other supplies.

I thought I would get BB gun and just shoot the squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies and deers that eat up my yard and birdseed, and then I could eat their meat.

Then I thought...Bad idea to eat wild animals...I could cause a pandemic! I could get a corona-lyme-virus!

Water, cans of food, dry goods like cereal.

No need to run out today! This is just something to keep in mind if coronavirus cases in your state start to spike. It might never happen, so relax for now.

- microbiologist.

Dear Microbiologist - Please define "spike". Because we went from 35 to 53 cases today. are we talking worrying when we hit 100? 1000?

There may be many who plan to eat their obese neighbors. Maybe the obese neighbors are buying food to fend off hungry skinny neighbors who are thinking of turning cannibals.

How would coronavirus affect water supplies?

Is it something they teach them, otherwise why is he she signing like it makes her his advice more valuable then anybody else here? Just curious whats the nest post will be on signed by them? Fashion? Lawn?... trust me, don’t buy blue shirts, signed microbiologist.

Is i see them talking virus, bacteria then you got my attention, but every other area, your guess as good as my cat’s.

That spike is not community spread at all -- it's all the people who came off the Diamond Princess. We already knew they had it -- they've been in hospitals in Nebraska and Ca. since they arrived -- these were just the "official" test results.

IDK if I'm under reacting or if all of you are going overboard. I literally find myself going grocery shopping more regularly (so that I don't do my usual thing of being down to just about no food before I go -- just don't want to be caught with nothing). And then I find myself buying 1-2 extra items each time -- pasta or a big box of granola bars or whatever. Seems like I'm not doing enough, but then it's like I could make 2 wks of dinners from the pasta/rice etc. on hand -- is that so bad? Maybe another wk or two's worth would be better . . . .

Is there anybody here that would be willing to help our family with groceries? I have three teenagers and my husband has a chronic and has been out of work for 4 months. We have been living week to week, our bank account is frequently overdrawn. Unfortunately our family is not able to help (we’ve helped my MIL even when we couldn’t afford it).

A gift card to a grocery store, I’m not asking for someone to send a random stranger cash. Food Lion, Walmart. Please?

My experience with hurricanes is that, if you want to prep at all, you have to prep when it’s crazy to prep. If you wait until a rational person would prep, you’ll have a diet of maraschino cherries and sweet pickles.

This. I went today to stock the pantry with stuff I would normally be buying, just double of it all.

Not sure if it was a coincidence or poorly stocked shelves, but the tuna was slim pickings, as was the pancake mix, peanut butter and toilet paper.

I’m sorry for your situation, pp. why not head to a food bank?

Yes, this is exactly what food banks are for. When you need a hand.

Your best bet is a local food bank. Google will tell you what is available. I wish you and your family well but think it is unlikely to have your needs met on an anonymous message board.

I can’t stock up food from the food bank. And the one here in our county will only let you have three bags. I have been there. Several times over the past few months. And it’s really unfortunate because they only have non perishable stuff and one of my kids has Type 1 diabetes. It’s hard to eat healthy from a food bank. The soups and cereals and starchy stuff really hiked his blood sugar up, even though he active in sports at school. I wish food banks were able to offer healthier options.

Can you post what area you’re in, so people can help recommend possible resources?
