| My 9 year old daughter said "totes" the other day. I said "wha?!!" |
Yasss! |
|
The internet is lit
Woke Clapback |
Is this English? |
|
My kids tell each other as an insult to 'get psyched up in the face' (daughter says its 'siked')
And 'stop being so sketch' I like these just fine. Its makes parenting or any relationships more enjoyable to see the humor and lightness of these phrases. |
Yassss coming from adults is the worst. And where did "It's been a minute" come from? I wish people would stop being mean to OP and fighting about whether she is old or young, because I DO actually find discussions of slang interesting. |
| It’s been a minute has been a black thing for decades. White dorks are saying it now. |
|
|
I never said or understood "it is what it is" until I hit my forties. Now I say it, because it's true!
Otherwise, I try to stay away from the cool af young people lingo. |
Good fuddy-duddy words! You’re the cat’s pajamas! |
Totally rad idea. |
| None of these examples are in the vernacular of actual young people. |
| Agree OP. I don't get why so many people are beating you up here. People are just lazy and have limited vocabularies. |
| “Makes me cringe” is worse than any of the examples OP actually provided as what younger people use. |
|
OP is right on the money. I know plenty of moms 30's and 40's show purposefully throw out these very cliche terms and slangS thinking it makes them cooler. Yup, the very ones who wear Lululemon driving their long hair flowing sons to lacrosse practice in the Escalade. It is what it is.....supper annoying and pretty ridiculous looking. Why people can't you just speak like a full grown adult with a decent command of the English language!
I am 49 and consider 40's to be somewhat young, not like you are 30 or anything but in today's world 40 is certainly not old! |
