Diana was, her father the Earl is. Her claim to fame is a famous cousin.
The Earl had his wife and kids shipped to a far away troubled African country. She was not raised in Brittish high society.

As for her father, the Earl. According to Brittish law the oldest son is heir apparent and other siblings, including wife, ex-wives, get nothing

The Earl moved with his family to South Africa during the height of the Wales separation wars.

He came back to the UK after two years as he divorced Kitty’s mother - the former Countess.

So yes - she is aristocracy. She was born to it and it’s in her bloodline.

Doesn’t mean the blue bloods don’t still have disturbing social norms.

Bloodlines do not count for that much. She didn't grow up in the aristocratic circles and as such is outside the community.

They had a really messy divorce and her mother (the former Countess) had all kinds of issues with drug addiction and eating disorders. I think she was trying to get better away from the gossip, etc.

The mother (former Countess) was a heroin addict. She got treatment in South Africa and I think for a while worked at/ran a treatment center.

Well, Diana's lookalike finally got married yesterday and her father didn't attend.

They haven't been photographed together in years but had no idea it was that bad.

How does their mother support herself? I'm really curious.

She was divorced from their dad when the estate wasn't as profitable (post-Diana death) and she raised 4 kids on her own in South Africa essentially. She remarried once but that didn't last and quite frankly all of her kids are now adults, so even if she could get support - its over now.

I have to wonder if Kitty is rushing at 30 to marry a 62-year-old as guaranteed income not just for herself but for a mother who has no other source of living.

Her new husband is 7 years older than her own mother. That's got to be weird.
