I have a specific cake I'm trying to turn from sweet to savory, but I'm going to look up the suggestions and other recipe options posted when I get a chance and maybe give them a try. I'm not free to post the recipe here or I would. (I'm sure this will get the fur up on the cackling hyenas who have invaded over this thread.)

Thanks again to all the normal food people out there.

I posted about savory cakes. Why can’t you share your recipe?

Because it's my DC's recipe and I promised I wouldn't. Long family story. : )

Your child has a secret family recipe?

Could be an adult child. My younger child was baking from scratch by 8.

Could also be from the other side of the family, which makes it DC’s recipe, which may not be available to OP.

Bingo. This is exactly the case.

But not as as people who are annoyed by them.

I put some weed in my lemon pound cake, it was incredible.

Hmm. I know which bunch is the most childish for sure.

It's weird that people were rather snippy in their responses. How unpleasant. I read this and felt bad for the person who posted the question.

These savory cakes look delicious! What do you typically serve with them?

You could make the famous Campbell's tomato soup cake! Its supposed to be slightly savory but I've never tried it.

Not sure why this was revived, and eyeroll to the OP who won’t share the recipe if they’re still around but I’ll bite:
Sugar is structure and flavor. It’s in the liquid category of ingredients. I suggest you cut the sugar by 3/4 and substitute sour cream or Greek yogurt for the rest. If it’s still too sweet, cut back more sugar. If it’s too dense, cut back on the sour cream. Keep playing with proportions until you get it right.
