I just posted about a friend who is a SAHM who was very sad when her kid was throwing up with a stomach bug, then she herself contracted it and was throwing up. A day later she non chalantly went to school for a holiday party. People are just aholes.

I don't send my kid to school and we had 3.5 months of multiple subs. Yes, I was annoyed and complained. Teacher finally came back and is completely checked out.

All of them told me or the nurse that their parents gave them medicine before sending them to school. The illness spread through our class throughout the whole week. I had a mild case of whatever was going around (no fever, but lots of coughing and some body aches). And then of course it hit two of my family members (husband and son). They will hopefully feel better for Christmas, but it sucks. And I use Clorox wipes a few times a day to wipe down tables, chairs, computers, doorknobs etc. Parents need to keep their sick kids at home.

You need to stay home too. We have that cough. It is contagious.

My kid didn't get their first cold until Thanksgiving, and are now on their 3rd one since then. Yes, I'm sending my kids to school and daycare with a runny nose. Do you think parents can take off work from fall through spring, when cold season clears?

You should check this out. It’s not normal to have a cold for 6 months. Maybe if they were given a chance to rest and heal...

Stop being so obtuse and literal, it kills the convo here. And I’m a SAHM who keeps her kid home from school when sick!

3 colds since Thanksgiving is nuts.

I kept my child home from preschool for the last week because my child has been sick, we also canceled plans to fly this weekend. He adores school and his teachers.

Today his teacher called and asked if it was ok to drop by. When she arrived at our home she came with wrapped presents for him from the teachers and goodies and things so he could celebrate.

What that tells me is that the kid hasn't had time to rest and recover, so they are more likely to catch other viruses since they're already run down. Stop making your sick kids fit into your schedule. They are not widgets to manipulate around to avoid inconvenience to your schedule. Get it together and actually prioritize your kids for once.

My kids have had plenty of rest and recovery time, but thank you for your input. Yes, three cold in a month is nuts, but yes, it does happen. One of my children is home with a nanny, by the way, so there is no manipulating of widgets to fit my schedule. You may step down from your soapbox now.

DC was fine Friday and Saturday and woke up Sunday with a high fever. It hasn’t gone down and urgent care said both the flu test and strep test were negative. I’m not blaming anyone. Viruses come on quick and fast. We will stay home for Christmas and cancelled plans. That’s life. We are not the first in the extended family to cancel for sickness and won’t be the last.

People are the most contagious right before they come down with their illness. Your kids could have gotten ill from someone who was kept home from school once they were sick. You don’t know where your kids picked up strep. Maybe they got it from a kid at school. Maybe they got it at the grocery store or at practice. You can’t know for certain. I sure hope your kids NEVER get anyone else sick. Cause if they do, shame on you. And you know that they will get others sick in their lifetime because that’s life on earth. Sorry but you just can’t avoid it. So stop your whining. Boo hoo.

You could have picked up strep ANYWHERE. Blaming one family is about as smrt as blaming a particular meal for your food poisoning. You just don’t know and you are probably wrong.

It’s hard to understand why you would put so much energy into what you can’t control. People are going to do what they are going to do. Many of the things people have complained about here don’t even violate the school rules. Thing is, since you can’t control others, the real place to focus your energy is on what can you do to protect you and your family from illness given the fact that they will be exposed to germs.
