NP I actually would talk about it. Just to make your opinion heard. We've discussed this type of thing with my DS before (also 6th grade). Take a more objective approach and not super antagonistic against the coach. Explain the grey areas. |
Sounds like you should step up and coach. |
| Clarksburg Baseball |
| It's basketball, PP. But sorry to hear about Clarksburg Baseball. All parents -- and everyone really -- who have normal, everyday integrity should demand this shit stop. Cheating is wrong. |
| So what happened? |
|
It’s not cheating if the rules don’t prohibit it, so stand down, helicopter mom.
It’s not super ethical but let’s not call people cheaters who are abiding by the rules of the league. If you have an issue become more involved by either offering to coach or taking it up with the rules committee. |
"It's not super ethical"? Really? It's not even a bit ethical. Why can't kids just play on their teams and see which team is the best? |
Reread the last sentence of the previous post, helicopter mom. |
So why register your kid for a league with rules that you see as unethical? Isn’t that setting a bad example for your kid? |
I think most parents just register their kids for sports without looking into the rules. I assume most organizations run by adults have certain standards of ethics. Do people look into these things? |
| A boy on my DS’s team was also on a travel team. One of the refs noticed and reported it. My Ds’s team had their season score brought to zero. The boy claimed that he recognized a bunch of opposing team players as also playing on travel teams. He was just a very outstanding player which drew attention from a ref. |
Wow. So did you talk to your DS about the cheating? How did he feel about it and about his coach etc? |
what sport/league? |
Most parents don’t start screaming about unethical rules and cheating coaches the second they don’t like something that’s within the rules, so no. Most parents don’t need to scrutinize the rules ahead of time. |
How about this "Most people don't start screaming about unethical rules and cheating coaches the second they come across unethical rules and cheating coaches." Does that make more sense? No, but that's what happened. More parents should start objecting to unethical rules. As many people have already posted, it would be unusual for bringing in players from a higher-level team to play during a final game of a 6th grade level basketball league. But I'm no expert. This is so clearly wrong and unsportsmanlike behavior that it's hard to understand why the complaint makes you so mad PP. |
