Hmmmm... let me try that again.... Running around and then PROSTRATing myself at the lack of action by our government, won’t do anything in that moment. |

Is it the guns?
Is it violent video games? Maybe it’s just that there are more people. More people means more people with mental illness and anti social behavior. We need less guns, but we also need less people. |
It is the guns. Other cultures play violent video games. But you sound like you’re making a argument for “thinning the herd” I think you might want to look into some mental health services |
I’m totally ok with the herd coming down a couple of billion of people over the next few generations. |
Funny. Tell your neighbors to stop having more than 2 kids then. That would get rid of the mass shooters right there. |

I'm in western Canada and there was a boy in highschool (20 yrs ago) who had an actual hit list. He would add your name if you really affected him. He was depressed, dark, but didn't follow through - or wasn't ill enough or didn't have access to weapons?
Also given our proximity and similar culture why are shootings so much more common in the US? I've wondered this before, what is the difference or any ideas or theories why? https://www-m.cnn.com/2018/05/21/us/school-shooting-us-versus-world-trnd/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F "The US has had 57 times as many school shootings as the other major industrialized nations combined" I know in my kids elementary school they teach a lot of behavior self regulation and general emotional health but that is only in the last 5 years. |
I would really like to know why as well. |
| Well, I am a former centrist voter who is now a single-issue anti:Republican voter who donates across the country to anti-gun candidates. I like recreational shooting too. But I am done. |
this was touched upon very briefly by Michael Moore in Bowling for Columbine. TWENTY YEARS AGO! Come on people, we have GOT to figure this shit out. |
Isn't it down to our gun laws? Isn't that the main difference relative to Canada and other countries? I also think the school shootings are fueled by some problems in our culture, particularly with respect to men--but I think a lot of it is driven by our lax gun laws. |
| Their “Evan” video is very interesting also, if you haven’t seen it. |
Western Canada poster here. I think these too, also with respect to men. Also maybe around the death penalty? That's essentially what some of these situations are, the shooter giving their parents and the students the death penalty. |
| Oh shit, yeah, I didn't notice what was going on in the background until I rewatched. So powerful. |
We were in BC this summer when those two boys were shooting tourists. It's not as common in Canada, but does happen. |

Disturbed and violent kids are allowed to do whatever they want in school and won’t ever be expelled (and will rarely be suspended).
Also, parents who hand babies and toddlers phones instead of providing actual human connection. There was a whole thread on this in the Schools forum but now it seems to have disappeared. |
