Soccer politics in the DMV what club does it right?

Stay away from VDA and FCV

I have heard about VDA being horrible but Can you tell me why for FCV?

VDA has clear favorites and it is PWSI heavy on the girls side (PWSI and VSA merged to make VDA) They have one coach (Awful) that talks in the other coaches ears and pushes the ones he wants playing, these players are at best just fast and physical but have no technical ability or soccer IQ. FCV has the same it’s totally pay to play over there and the parents that are rich call the shots. Both FCV and VDA keep sending the same players to all these training centers that never go to the next level and over look the real talent due to there never ending politics and pushing agenda. Go out and watch some of there games I promise you will see what I am referring to. Mostly on the VDA side however you will see players play full games with no vision losing the ball over and over again and playing kick ball. exception for them is the 06 team they have a great team all the others are losing or squeaking by due to their midfielders being awful and coaching politics. Nothing changes on either team so stay away unless you are a “favorite” you won’t get recognized. Go to bryc or McLean in my opinion they play there best no matter who it is and except the girls to earn play which at this level is what it should be. Every club has there issues but those two clubs in my opinion are the worst. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Vda is actually more PWSI-heavy on the boys side than the girls. Which coach are you talking about?

I have actually heard amazing things about Quan but on the other hand Alex has destroyed that team he is coaching now. I have heard no one wants him as their coach except for of course his players from pwsi that get showcased because if they fail he fails. He had the 04 team and again only wanted to take care of pwsi players or what he thought was good players which is funny because this guy couldn’t pick a talented technical player out if you paid him to. Oh wait they do ?
He plays kick and chase and is a plain old jerk! VDA would be wise to faze him out of the girls side not sure if they didn’t they wouldn’t lose the teams they have left and the actually talented players. Line those kids up at VDA and have them actually run technical drills like settling the ball, first touch, dribbling at speed, juggling, passing on the ground, dribbling with there heads up, striking the ball inside outside foot and see if his super stars can stand out. It’s a shame though because his team last year was amazing.

Destroyed it? How? Cut 3 players. Brought 3 new players in. One kid made ecnl national camp and one kid made the ICC all star team.

It’s funny when coaches take ownership for players that come from different clubs that where developed elsewhere and oh btw 2 players don’t make up a team and that specific team was winning at the beginning of last year understanding how to make connections and now they look like a rec team struggling to grasp basic soccer mechanics and when you have a group of mostly talented players that can’t connect that’s failed coaching.

I’ve watched Alex for years. I’ve watched him choose good soccer over wins and the kids love him (all the kids). The 2004 VDA team was also the best it has ever been under him. They have struggled since he left them for the 2005 team. The 2005 team is 2-1 this year after making champs league last year. He also runs the Top Soccer program for pwsi as a volunteer on top of being an engineer full-time and coaching PWSI and vda teams. I’m sorry he cut your daughter or did not pick her for vda. You sound so mad about it.

Fcv and bryc are easily the worst. Parents run those clubs behind the scenes. Bobby/Christian and Mikey have their chosen special families. Everyone else is there to help those kids. McLean isn’t far behind with 25 player rosters and parent managers making team decisions.

This is to funny! That guy plays kick ball and there is NO WAY the 04 team did better when under him they actually are playing good soccer now and the only thing that needs work is the midfield who was hand picked by him and continuously loses the ball. My kid doesn't even play VDA but people talk and they talk a lot over there. I actually have no problems with VDA and in-fact under Scott they are really making waves now but that guy needs to take a seat! He is snarky and inappropriate with the girls and I am not sure if ^^^ you are the coach trying to save face or one of his precious chosen ones that can never do no wrong but I really don't know what the heck you are seeing or talking about. Just ask around it is on ongoing Joke around the soccer clubs that that guy is a joke. Everyone knows it and few would say it to his face because once he doesn't like the parent he takes it out on the kid. And lastly I have also seen Alex coach and our team go against him for years and you clearly are delusional that guy does not understand at all how to coach good soccer. Kicking it up forward to one child who may or may not even know how to control it is BAD SOCCER and it is my assessment that his team unfortunately wont even qualify this season BUT not because they are a bad group they actually have so much talent, but because he has all the wrong players in the wrong positions hoping his select few can control the whole game and forgetting that a team is made up of 11 players on the field.

Then what you’re saying is it’s not the club it’s the coaches. Everyone knows Mikey Is a tool, how is Bobby and Christian even close to comparison to him? McLean has parent coaches of course its parent controlled.

No...not LOTS...most are PWSI or VDA.
