Has anyone found friendship with a Director of admissions to be an advantage?

My child will have an advantage because dc is a legacy and I have given a significant amount of money to the school. This is entirely independent from my friendship with this person.

Points for owning your privilege.

Yes, it can help. We have a friend, the dd applied to an all girls school, mom knew the president of the school. Not only did the dd get in but got a full scholarship. Her parents didn't need the monetary help at all. Might not really be fair but it is what it is.

Sounds interesting. Which all-girls’ school is this?

Yes, of course OP. We had a super rich friend on the board of an elite school and they put in a word for our child.

Well that I am not going to share on this board.
