Is a good atheist better then a bad christian?

Op, do you count atheists who laugh and proclaim the Bible is made up by “dudes” as a good atheist?

I am neither the OP or the PP you are referring to, but is it just the nomenclature used you find offensive?

Would you prefer it if PP had said "We respectfully understand you believe this to be the inerrant word of god but history shows it is transcribed bronze age oral tradition myths".

I guess respecting other’s religions is not important to you?

How many Muslims has pp told, laughingly, that the Koran is made up by dudes?
Jewish people? Has pp told Jewish people the Talmud is made up by dudes?

Is it proper to tell religious people their holy texts are fabricated by dudes? What’s the reasoning to declare that?

Now if a religious person was trying to make you read their holy book, and bothering you, and using the words to attack you, by all means, tell them back off, I don’t want to read your holy text, I think it’s made up.

But to just come out and declare it for I guess haha funny purposes sounds like some can’t be respectful and mature. Just my 2 cents.

And no, I would not think Atheists who don’t understand or respect other people’s religious traditions and holy texts and openly mock and laugh at said texts without provocation are good people.

I get you are offended. And I do agree that the PP could have chosen more respectful language.

But please make no mistake, atheists believe the same thing about all holy books from all religions. It may be both insulting and over-simplistic to call them "made up by dudes" but there is no extra prejudice for one religion over another.

I'll also point out that this is a voluntary, open discussion forum, and we are all here by choice.

Right, but if atheists are better and more open minded and more kind than religious people, I am not seeing that evidence in a post that does not respect the Christian believers that post here. I don’t see anyone calling out the fake Koran or Talmud.

1. Did you call out the PPs for disrespecting atheists? Or you only call out the atheists?

2. Those books are ALL fabricated by dudes. That particular reply was responding to a comment about the Bible. But feel free to feel persecuted. Typical.

3. 12:10 claimed "actual words of Jesus" - I'm disputing that. Do you write "In my opinion" before every single post you write about religion? I don't. And 12:10 didn't say "IMO the actual words of Jesus" - he just says it like a fact. So I'm free to share my opinions as facts as well.

Please quote from the Koran or Talmud and I'll happily call it "a bunch of lines written by dudes".

Why do you only quote from the Bible? Are you anti-Islam? anti-Semitic?

I think it was a bible quote that was being responded to, hence the reason it was specified.

And to disagree, my post prior called out all other religious books as equally flawed -- this way none are specifically prejudiced against. So you can't say no one is calling out the Koran or the Talmud as they are part of the subset.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Another weird thing: atheists who quote the Bible. And not just the Bible, the actual words of Jesus.

You mean, a bunch of lines that some dudes fabricated when they made up the whole thing? Those actual words?

A bunch of lines= the Bible

Some dudes= important people in Christianity

Fabricated= the important to Christianity “dudes” lied and made up the Christian Holy text

So how does this display the logical kindness of atheist thought?

This person isn’t saying they don’t believe, they are saying they personally don’t believe and the Bible is made up- thus Christianity is based on lies.

I thought atheists only made choices about belief or disbelief for themselves? I didn’t know they went around declaring the Bible was fake and by extension Christianity was fabricated.

Do all atheist feel they should declare Christianity is made up because they themselves have logically chosen to not believe?

You know this though, you are just trying to stir up sh*t, which is both dishonest and as rude as the posters you criticize.

You are welcome to believe it's true. I'm sure you feel free to express that freely.

And I'm welcome to think that it's not true (AKA just a bunch of guys writing it). Why can't I express that freely?

Finally you admit that someone purposely criticizing a religious text here is dishonest, rude, and sh$t stirring. After your oh so thoughtful defense of the poster as they criticized the Bible- the truth came out when asked about the Koran and Talmud.

“Oh believe me we atheists think all religious texts are made up garbage!”- when discussing the Christian Bible

“You are a rude and dishonest sh$tstirrer!!”- when asked to demonstrate the same level of disbelief and disrespect to the Koran and Talmud.

op-these are not the good, kind, and tolerant atheists. These are the hypocritical atheists that think they declare other people’s religions are untrue.

The real atheists don’t care about other people’s religions.

They are all written by regular 'ole men. All are equally flawed as man himself is flawed.
