| I read this, I understand you words and your burden and all the comments, but I cannot and will not be not Catholic. |
| We left. There was simply no way we could continue to financially and otherwise support an organization that abused children and covered it up. Over and over again. We love our Episcopal church! |
| Episcopal = Catholic lite. |
That's not what Jesus would do. |
Not so much anymore. We have tried intentionally to distance ourselves from the Catholic church. No church is perfect because people aren’t perfect. But we have women priests, we welcome everyone, we are LGTBQ friendly, and we don’t tolerate sex abuse. Just a few of the many differences. Also, Science. We know that bread and wine don’t literally magically transform into human flesh and blood just because a man in a collar says it does. And if it did, ew! cannibalism isn’t cool! /former Catholic |
So sad. Hope you will find your way home. |
Now THAT ‘S funny. |

You know what else is especially harmful to children, Bishop Tobin? Hypocrisy, child molesters, protecting child molesters, lying about child molestation, and organized child molestation.

And secular private schools ( e.g., Horace Mann) And public schools (e.g., NYC) And gymnastics And summer camps Care to go on? |
The answer here really isn't that difficult. I didn't join and I don't participate in the Catholic Church because I believe any of these things to be what it's about. These are crimes, plain and simple, and should be dealt with as such. But the doctrine is spot on, and the overwhelming majority of the church's administration serves it well. Sorry you can't bifurcate the two. |
