| I did not attend high school (not by choice). I did 1.5 years at a community college in my early 20s and had an A average. I then transferred to a flagship state university and also had an A average. I graduated in 4 years but was 26. I got my master's years later with all As. I'm fairly happy in my chosen career. The money is okay but not great. I do think my lack of formal education before college influenced my choice in major. I lacked a solid math and science foundation, so I chose something that required mostly humanities-related coursework. |
Were you homeschooled? |

A student in HS, college, Law School
Biglaw Partner. Financially doing great, but wonder if there is more to life. |
I was inconsistently homeschooled through about middle school. I grew up in a cult that did not believe in education past 8th grade and did not prioritize education beyond the 3 Rs. I got ahold of some decent homeschooling resources and taught myself enough math to not look like a complete idiot on my entrance exam. The only remedial class I ended up needing to take was Algebra II. |
| Average C student all of HS and college. Currently unemployed |
Average C student all of HS and college too - maybe even lower in HS as we were supposed to pass at least 5 exams to graduate HS apparently. I didn't. No one has ever asked me if I graduated HS! I did get a pointless degree after that - average grades. Years later got several respected professional designations in my field - I have the exact same job as others in my company who were A students in HS and Uni. No one compares - I can just tell via random conversations throughout the years (that they were all diligent students). Got the (entry-level) job before I got the designations and have progressed through the years. |

C student in HS
A student in college (magma cum laude) and in graduate school I was diagnosed with a learning disability in my senior year of HS. The diagnosis helped me learn strategies to compensate for it. I could have had more time on tests but never needed it after following those tips. Would have been better to know before HS but better late than never!! I have a great job now! I wish I could go back in time and punch my guidance counselor in the face though. It is shocking how low people’s expectations were! My IQ is pretty high and people told me the best I could do was to get an Associates degree and become a secretary. Lol! |
I may be having a bit of a reading comprehension issue so forgive me-- are you saying you didn't graduate from high school?? |
| This thread is giving me hope for my 18 year-old son... |
| A- student in HS and college. Fed 14..don'/t love it don't hate it. Do like the flexibility of working from home. |

Straight A’s in high school, went to a state school (a good one) where I absolutely flopped and partied too much. Barely graduated. BARELY.
I’ve been kind of a loser since. I’m 33 and JUST this week landed my first ‘real’ job and I cannot wait. |

A student, in gifted program since 3rd grade.
Currently teach preschool part time and don’t make a lot per hour. |
I am the same. No regrets and lots of fun. |
You already know the answer to that question |
The headmaster at the time decided that to graduate students needed to pass at minimum 5 high-level exams. I didn't, I got 4. So I guess not. Don't know if it was recorded that I didn't graduate - or if they let it go. Don't care at all! It has never come up. Like I said have qualifications now and a good job. All is well. |
