Duke Ellington should be relocated to be more convenient to the majority of its student population.

That would certainly help reduce commute times and pollution.

The Green New Deal requires DE to not have the majority of its students crossing a whole city. Either recruit more students near the school, or move the school.

Really! And they will be doing a 100% audit for the next 4 years--the level of scrutiny for the paperwork is intense. The fraud thing is a big myth. But Ellington lost funders because of the negative attention, which is a shame. The city needs to support and not undermine this amazing school.

And leave Deal and Wilson for families who actually live nearby. All other students can go back and offer hope to their own schools and neighborhoods!!!!

Do you people know how stupid you sound talking about moving Ellington closer to where the students live? It's a freaking audition-based magnet. The students comes from where the talent is. You want more Jonny and Jane from Ward 2 and 3 to go, train them in the arts, it is that simple.

Agreed. Also the argument I've heard one parent make is that the kids are at the school at all times of the day and night and that it's safer for them to be in Georgetown when they're staying after school at night.

And forgive me if I'm skeptical of white middle class parents acting like they're sooooo concerned about whether the Ellington students have to travel long distances to get there. Yeah, sure.
