Because many other schools seem to manage fine, this doesn't seem plausible. It's similar to the mentality in the Churchill thread where they constantly find excuses for everything rather than owning up to the real problem that Whitman isn't the same school it was 20 years ago. |
Again it doesn't answer the question as to why other W HSs, and even non W HSs did better than Whitman. How many lame excuses can people come up with? |
| You need to factor in middle school teachers and curriculum too. That’s who’s supposedly prepping them for HS English. Are the students coming into 9th with a deficit? What’s happening at Pyle? |
|
And now no one comes into Whitman having had Mr Lewis
|
| who is mr lewis? |
Let me connect the dots for you. Because parents at other W schools supplemented, while the lazy Whitman parents did not. They foolishly believed brilliance rubs off as long as your kid walks into a W school. |
Pyle is awful. There's another thread on their lack of acceleration for global humanities. Basically, those teachers are lazily phoning it in. |
|
Wasn't there a walk out or something? I thought a bunch of students decided not to take the test.
Also, if you look at the "highly able" student numbers from the magnet school admissions Pyle blows every other middle school out of the water. Pyle is the only feeder to Whitman. It was 1.5 or 2 times more than the next highest including the top Potomac schools which always test very high. |
