Where do your kids go to school?

I put it down bc DCUM is always claiming that IB parents wouldn't send their kids to the IB school.

I didn’t look at it that way. It’s interesting to see if folks are attending their IB school or not.

You’re feelings must be hurt?

I think it's also interesting to see how far people are traveling for specific charters.

Agreed. The charter school board publishes Student Commute Maps. Very useful way to see this data: https://www.dcpcsb.org/report/student-location-maps

https://dme.dc.gov/page/school-year-2016-17-neighborhood-enrollment-patterns-dc-public-school-students

This data is a little old but very interesting.

It is.

The Takoma/Brightwood/Manor Park cluster had 166 students enrolled at Deal in SY 16-17. The Shepherd Park/Colonial Village cluster had 79 at Deal.

Historically, lots of kids from that area have lotteried into Shepherd the go to Deal. I expect that number to decrease significantly (like Hearst a few years ago) as fewer kids are getting into Shepherd OOB.

I'll bite. Is SSMA the sh$tshow this year that it was last?

Yep. Sewage flooding in the basement, soap removed from the bathrooms (because ops was mad kids were using too much soap and making bubbles in the sink) and the school admin refusing to give the community association/PTA the parent email list, as done in years past, so the PTA has no real way to communicate with parents.

Dumbest thread in a while. I think I’ll start one called “what food do you eat?”

It's a redundant, empty thread, bc people mention which schools they are attending all the time throughout all the threads about specific schools.
