So why does Wilson not have a single National Merit Semifinalist?

So your theory is that because the test was easy for you, every kid at Wilson should be in the top 1% of DC test takers? I'm assuming you are smart enough to see why that doesn't work. Also, if everyone got a perfect PSAT score, it would completely invalidate the test.

Don't put words in the PP's mouth Wilson absolutely should have at least one or two kids in the top 1% of DC test takers, like Walls and now BASIS. In fact, more years Wilson does. Come on, acing the PSAT isn't rocket science. Something's rotten at Wilson this year.

The kids at Wilson are fantastic. I know Wilson kids that are among the most talented artists, athletes, musicians, student journalists, actors, debaters, etc. in the area. And I know Wilson students that are smarter - both academically and socially - than any private school kid I have ever met. And heck yes, these kids get into great colleges.

The fact that there are no Wilson kids among the National Merit Semifinalists tells me that there is something wrong the National Merit Semifinalist award criteria, not that there is something wrong with Wilson.

You can’t honestly believe the stuff that you pump into your head, can you? So, are the private schools and suburban mangents are on the wrong side as the National Merit Scholarship committee? Jealousy is a lousy perfume and you don’t wear it well.

What a nasty comment. FWIW the average SAT score in Wilson was the highest in DCPS/Charters last year. Many students scored almost perfect in SAT.

Toatall BS, FYI, the average SAT score at Wilson last year was 1150. It was 1258 at Walls and 1280 at Basis.

Principal honors-for-none must be posting. In her mind 1180 is perfect.

Wilson usually posts the numbers fo the subgroup of kids who also take the SAT subject matter tests, so maybe she is thinking of the average for that group. It is usually quite high.

Those tests are given to very few, self-selecting students and scores are on an 800 point scale. And an 800 on a subject test does NOT equal a perfect score.

Did you leave any Kool Aid for anyone else, or did you drink the whole bowl?

Drank it all, but hey, I'll refill the punch bowl and you can have some too. Wilson is a great school with some fantastic, talented kids - regardless of what the average PSAT score is.

I'm not sure how your last sentence is relevant to the prior post, but to clarify: what was reported was {the average score on the actual SAT} for {the subset of kids who also took subject matter tests} (not the scores on the subject matter test). I haven't seen that number reported since the class of 2016 though.

But if no one else is reporting average SAT scores of students who chose to take the subject test, you can't claim that Wilson's results (on that metric) are the highest.

I have a hard time imaging that Wilson students who opt to take an SAT 2 test score any higher on the SAT than SWW or BASIS or Latin students. Any kid who is taking the SAT 2 is going to be applying to the most elite colleges, the only places that even care about those tests.

Wilson is a great place to send liberal students who then go on to become conservatives because they realize the public school BS is just that BS. They know they've been cheated because they've had to deal with the socialist teachers and have lost many hours reviewing material because half the class was absent on that day.

Unintentionally hilarious. What high school do you attend?
