I work in a building where Mrs Obama spent much of last week, and every day, there were two suburbans out by the back doors, parked, and idling all day long. Like 5-6 hours, from Tuesday to this Monday while she was here.

That's +60 HOURS worth of idling SUVs.

Ponder how much pollution that caused. Probably 3 gallons of fuel for each, per day, that's 30 gallons of gasoline. That's about 180 POUNDS of carbon into the atmosphere for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

DCUM is fond of shaming people who idle their cars in their driveway for even a few minutes.

I hope someone here will have the integrity to ask Mrs Obama to instruct her agents to turn their engines off.

I love MO but this is unacceptable. Idling SUVs for hours - just no. There are usually lots of SUVs idling in front of the Capitol too, also unacceptable. If anyone has the ability to say something to her about this please do.

How cute.

You think no one has ever told her about this?

I think its weird the above PPs want to tell Secret Service to turn their cars off. So that if there is an attack in this post-9/11 climate...well, they're stuck. Like, really?

We live in year 2018, lady. 9/11 happened 17 years ago...maybe you need to move on?

Oh, and how is the basic decency of turning you car off "being stuck"? You can turn your car on in 2 seconds.

This is just about the arrogance of power.

A car being on is the difference between life and death for their jobs. And yes we're post 9/11 while still dealing with the same security issues. I mean but I would love for the DoD to shift some of that massive budget over to the DoT so we could get better infrastructure in this country. Win-win right? Less F-35s polluting the sky and more people taking high-velocity electric trains up and down the coasts. Let's say we work on that.

The SUV tanks "on" keeps her guys warm when it's cold out, or cool when it's hot out.

They always cared about the middle class, didn't they.

Good point.

That’s resale tickets...you know greedy people who purchase up the decently priced tickets and resell them for their economic greed. Gotta love capitalism.

If you bought them the day they were opened, there were plenty of 29$ seats available. We bought 49$ seats for next weekend.

And yet her book tour is selling out of tickets everywhere.

b/c many Americans are too stupid to see they're being duped

just b/c "everyone's doing it" mentality

I bet you bought a fidget spinner for your kid, too.

It was GREAT last night!

You haters make me laugh. Why is Michelle so threatening to you? Just don’t see her speak or buy her book. It is what we did with Sarah Palin.

Just let it go, guys. If she is not your cup of tea, she is not your cup of tea. End of discussion.

This reminds me of all the hysteria to go see Hamilton. I mean people who never seemed interested in the arts or attended any concerts, decided they needed to travel to a different state in order to absolutely see Hamilton. I also know nannies/housekeepers with limited English who wanted to treat their significant ones to Hamilton by buying them tickets costing over $500 a piece.

Let them idle their SUVs. Maybe we can channel this energy into something else that will actually make a difference.

Why not? I plan on doing the opposite of you. Read the book and skip the tour.

Well, I mean - they ARE celebrities. Being the first of anything makes you one. Ignoring the fact that everyone hated Bush for different reasons when he stepped down, he wasn’t even the first president IN HIS OWN FAMILY, so yeah - bad example there.

The first gay president and the first female president likewise will have the same fervor surrounding them. If you want a past example - Kennedy was the first non-Protestant president and the youngest! He too was a celebrity.

Technically, that honor goes to Theodore Roosevelt who was 42, Kennedy was 43.
