Ugh, not from what I've seen. FCV coach is abusive af, seen it at games. Humiliates/degrades their own players, repeatedly.

Which team? We did not have that experience on the GA team. Though I heard parents complain about a prior coach in the earlier years.

I also think it is how each person processes what is being said. In our experience the most abusive coach was on another ECNL team that consistently went to playoffs. He would call girls fat, stupid and lazy, you name it and it rolled off of most because we won, and he was a great coach technically and if you are starting it's not the worst condition to be in. But eventually we moved on for other reasons.

Curious on which team as well. Most people on this board likely don't see many of the GA teams from FCV, but are likely to see their United teams which aren't really tied into their GA program.

I've seen a mix of really good, okay, and bad FCV coaches for the boys and girls. I'm trying to find this out myself, who is good and is bad and abusive. My children have played against a couple girls and boys coaches who are really good!

Every club is a mix or good, bad, and meh coaches. The real way to find out is to ID/try out, and watch how the coach interacts with the team and kids. Also, certain kids prefer certain types of coaches. My DD likes strict coaching versus the "let's have fun" approach.

Moral of the story, ID with the various clubs and see if your kid is a match with whichever coaches. Anyone telling you one club has better coaches than another has been slighted or is just fanboying.

Who was that FCV coach? I’ve seen a lot of supportive coaches for the boys and girls sides so I’m generally curious. Also, what was that coach exactly saying?

I'm a soccer Dad, not a coach or a club representative.

My daughter plays for a 2011 team that has experienced some injuries and turnover in the last couple of months. The team is in need of some new players, but this particular organization seems to focus most of its recruiting and advertising on the boys side.

Is it permitted for me to offer information here about the team, and when / where tryouts will be held?

I'll hold off doing this until I get some feedback.

Why not? Although if it benefits you and your kids team(ie build it back up) you have all the right to. If it’s just trying to help the club then I would skip unless it’s a smaller club that could use the help

Yes its fine. Lots of information on club availability has been shared on lots of other tryout threads. There does not seem to be any issues! Our club is weak on recruiting also... we used to have a Coaching "Scout" at the Rec games pulling kids every year. He left 2 years ago and we are feeling the impact now.

For girls and boys in DC/ Bethesda, we love Top Level Futbol, a new league with a phenomenal coach who makes soccer fun and inspiring. My DD is U14. They will almost all their games. And no tryouts.

Can anyone recommend a good skills clinic with a private coach for my almost 7yo to prep for travel tryouts next year? He is a strong player and loves the sport. We are in North Arlington area.

Sign up for the pre-travel or pre-academy program now. This will help with preparations and team placement.
Looks like they advertised their Futures Program, run my Coach Camara (Great Guy!). I'd call and tell them you want to sign up w the intention of committing to travel down the road:
