I document student behavior plenty without photos. I document it with words. That has always been sufficient and has been used as data in IEPs etc. I would consider documenting with photo or video if a student was causing grave bodily danger to self or others and I thought I would be accused of it but that has never happened. --Special ed teacher who has seen almost everything.
I’ve done this but more with video than photos. Either way it’s almost always planned with purposeful intent and NEVER without prior signed parental consent.
No wonder teachers are leaving the profession in droves.
My 18 year old daughter with a mental disability is constantly bullied by other kids and she said that some of the teachers are taking pictures of her with their cell phones. 2 male teachers and a female. She said the one male stares at her all day until she looks up. When he notices she sees him staring or photographing her, he puts his phone face down and looks away. She left school mid class yesterday because she is so upset. She does not want to return. This issue was discussed with her counselor a month ago and it hasn't gotten better.
