Expectant and Postpartum Moms
"you're" spelling is not even as bad as your tone. why resuscitate such an old thread? |
| Watch "The Cove" first... |

This video actually shows a mother having a woter birth with a baby in the tank. The dolphin seemed quite calm to me.

The last thing I need during childbirth is a dolphin poking around my crotch. |
| I'm all for water births, home births, undisturbed births, etc... but seriously... why dolphins? |
| Glad to see this old DCUM gem again. |
| How does the baby breathe in the water????? I don't get it. |
The same way the baby breathes in utero. |
Gills? |
Oh this is very funny. How do you think the baby breathes as it is being squeezed down the birth canal? |
How about, how do you think the baby breathes for its entire in-utero existence?! |
| I am shocked at the judgement a lot of you haveabout this. I agree with OP that it is statisically much more dangerous to get in your car and drive somewhere than swim with dolphins while pregant. Many of the responses must be from people in landlocked states who have never had the opportunity to observe dolphins or other marine mammals in the wild. Dolphins are intelligent and perceptive creatures. In my work as a marine scientist I have had the opportunity to observe wild dolphin pods and see how protective they are of the pregnant ones. I think they would be attracted to pregnant humans, and not in the least aggressive. I am pregnant with my second child and hope that I see dolphins when I go snorkeling in Hawaii next month. I don't support dolphins in captivity, so wouldn't seek out a program like OP did, but I would love to swim with them in the wild and think its perfectly safe and not risky at all. The only reason the resorts forbid it is to cover their asses. I think it's a lot more risky to eat processed food and sit around on your butt while pregnant, but hey, we are all entitled to our opinions. |
Concur. People who swim with dolphins are selfish ***holes. |

We live in a coastal community and frequently encounter with dolphins sailing. We have been in the water with them many times.
They are cute. But they are assholes. They can get aggressive. And they can be rapey. If you want to swim with something, swim with the manatees! They are sweet and gentle and actually love people! You took an unnecessary risk by getting into the water with the dolphins. I'm glad you had fun. But when you are pregnant, the safety of your baby is more important than an adrenaline rush. |
| Dolphins are truly the assholes of the sea. Douchey and rapey. |
