"You look great for your age." and "I would have never guessed you were x years old!"

do women really tell themselves this? I can see mistaking 35 for 29, but no way in hell is a 45yo mom going to pass for 22.

My Korean mom friends can and do look about 25 at 45. Slim to tiny, no wrinkles, beautiful skin, simple hair and minimal makeup. I've mistaken one friend for her teen DD just in passing.

I told a friend of mine that she looks great for her age and it did not go over well. Contrary to what some PPs have said, I truly meant it. She's an AA woman and a bit over 50 and she is aging very well.

My BIL told my husband, his brother, that I was “aging well”. I am not sure whether I should be flattered or pissed off. I can’t stand my BIL and not sure why he felt the need to comment on my appearance or how I am aging to DH. I am 52 and been with DH since I was 22.

I am Korean and look my age for a Korean which for white people look younger. Generally, Asian women age well and stay slim with little/no wrinkles.

I am 35 and was with my 65 year old mom the other day. A random woman in the elevator (who was with her teenage looking daughter) was talking about getting drivers licenses and asked if I'd gotten mine yet or if I was waiting until closer to college. When I told her I'd had my license for 20 years she about fell over. People do get mistaken for very young (and it's awful, I'd much prefer to be taken for 35) if you have a round baby face, a small body, and no noticeable wrinkles yet.

Agree and I am somebody with olive skin and very fit and I have always been told I look nowhere near my chronological age, but at 48 I certainly don't think anyone would mistake me for 20s-or early 30s. I do get mid/late 30s--which pushing close to 50 is fine with me.

We were away and at a gym and my husband was teasing me about the 25-year old Fabio hitting on me. I am clueless about that stuff. I said maybe he's looking for a sugar momma.

If I compare photos from my late 20s/early 30s (where I look like a child) and now--there is definitely a big difference. We looked like babies when our first child was born and we were mid-30s---and then people were always guessing me to be 23-25.

I will say appearance from everyone I know (self included) around age 50 really starts to change---even people that look really good and stay super fit definitely begin to look 'mature'. I will say by then it's less bothersome. You go through life and begin to experience loss of loved ones and such and just become thankful for those around you and your health. You realize how superficial it is to be so caught up on appearance and material things. It just doesn't matter in the end. Love does. That in and of itself gives you much more confidence.

I get a second look every time I have to buy/order alcohol and the person asks for my ID. I'll never forget one time at Dulles Airport lounge the Asian lady serving refused to give me a glass of wine saying there is no way my ID is real. I'm 43 and even I know I look almost 20!

Sometimes its good sometimes its bad.

I am the 52 yr old Korean pp and I get hit on all the time by men in their late 20s to early 30s which is pretty funny because I can be their mother. It gets really funny when I tell them how old I am. My DH thinks it's a hoot. We're both old enough to know these things don't really matter but it's still fun anyway. Enjoy it while you can!
